Guest guest
Greetings, I was wondering how Ayurvedic medicine treats mental illness? I would also like to know if mental illness can actually be cured totally. Regards, jnel
Guest guest
First of all we should realise that the Ayurveda is a holistic approach. It is not treating the disease it will treat the person wholisticly - i.e. Physical Body, Mental Body & Soul. Intital concept of Ayurveda consists of Ashtang Hridaya (Eight Specialities) . Bhood Vidya (Psychiatry) is one of the specialities of Ayurveda. Accordingly the Mental illness can be treated with Ayurveda But we should find the Physician specialized on that field. saktisadhana99 <saktisadhana99 > wrote: Greetings, I was wondering how Ayurvedic medicine treats mental illness?I would also like to know if mental illness can actually be cured totally.Regards, jnelKERALA_AYURVEDICS :REAL REMEDY FOR HEALTH & MENTAL PROBLEMS.Love&Hope Kerala Ayurvedics, Mumbai.Phone 91-022-28919460,28611053,28549527 Search presents - Jib Jab's 'Second Term'
Guest guest
If the patient was born with mental disease and has basically had it whole life then probably very difficult or impossible to cure. If the disease has developed later in life large percentage of cases can either be cured or tremendously improved under the supervision of an experienced Vaidya. The disease is treated like all disease. It must be treated according to the particular case. There are vata mental disorders, pitta disorders, kapha disorders. Naturally treatment is different for different patients. The patient will need some patience as the cure might take sometime and the patient should be very committed to recovery. If the case is very complicated and the patient can not take care of themselves then the patient must go in hospital for beginning treatment or family will have to be taught how to care for the patient. I find that many people think they are suffering from mental disease nowadays. Actually many of these cases are suffering from various types of stress disorder - which is not true mental disease. Another important issue is that many people live a very irratic life and develop symptoms as a result of this unnatural lifestyle. Those who smoke, drink, take ganga and such, do not eat well, eat improper foods, do not sleep well, stay awake late at night, work long hours without proper rest, have job problems, have illness in the family, face the death of a loved one, have marriage or other relationship problems, etc. often have stress disorder that will be correctd once these practices are left behind or the personal issues resolved or the crisis passes. Human beings should understand the importance of taking extra care not to abuse themselves and to support themselves during stressful life passages. Human body and mind has its limits.
