Chana (Cicer arietinum) is also called Bengal Gram - in Hindi and

Urdu it is called Chana in Arabic it is called Hammoz - in Tamil it

is Kadalai - Malayalam it is Katala. Chana is used as a very

effective treatment for kwashiorkor in children - also for impotency -

premature ejaculation - etc. Excess like most pulses causees gas

(which can be controlled by the use of substances like hing) also

because like most pulses it can cause stones (high oxalic acid) one

should not overeat them.

Black gram (Phaseolus radiatis) in Hindi and Urdu is called Urad or

Urud - in Tamil it is Ullutham parapu - Malayalam it is Ulunu. It is

related to the same pulse family as mung. It also is used for

premature ejaculation and impotency - one old food used for these

body weakness problems (thin semen, bells palsy, lumbago, etc.) is to

eat wheat chappati and honey with black gram dal. It is often used

for mental weakness like memory loss, schizophrenia, hysteria, etc.

it has n=many useful qualaties for weaknesses of various types but

being even more heavy than other pulses one must be careful if

digestion is too weak as the oxalic acid problem is even greater in

Urad and poor digestion can easily make this delicious food into a

problem food. Always prepare with anti vata digesting substances such

as hing.
