Guest guest
I have come accross the following prescription for Jaundice and Hepatitis C. Would appreciate comments from the Vaidyas about its efficacy and precautions if any ? Can this also be used as a preventive in Jaundice prone season? Prescription: Take 8-10 freshly uprooted plants of Bhumya amlaki (Phylanthus niruri) and grate it with cow's milk (250 gms). Drink this on empty stomach for 3 days in a row. Dietary precautions: Shun salt completely for this period. Eat rice with curd. Drink juices of Sweet Lime and Pomegranate. VinodTired of spam? Guest guest
Its good for jaundice. But try to minimize milk products as much as possible. Also you can take Kumariasava two times a day, for adults 15ml asav+ 15 ml boiled warm water before food would help a lot. Lot of sugarcane juice is good.(if patient is not having diabetes). If you have any other questions let me know. Guest guest
Dear Vinod, Bhumyamalaki (it is one word or else it should be bhumi aamalaki) is a very effective drug for hepatitis of all kinds. Though I am not sure if an extensive study has been done on its specific use many products containing bhumyamalaki are available in the market. One such is "Nirocil" which is marketed by Solumiks Piramal. It should be easily available in big Indian cities. If you have access to fresh plants, all the more better. But sometimes some other plants are passed of as bhumyamalaki. I will try to get a good closeup picture of the plant if possible, so that it will be easy for you to identify. In some cases of jaundice the dietary precaution of rice with curd is not so recommendable. It would be better to consult an ayurvedic doctor regarding the same. Guest guest
Yes indeed, Bhumyamalaki(called Keezhanelli in Malayalam I think) is very effective for jaundice; there is no treatment per se in allopathy for jaundice/hepatitis. They give glucose drips, some multi- vitamins and prophylactics, which usually deteriorates the condition; most ayurvedic practitioners recommend Bhumyamalaka - the procedure for using this is to take the whole herb and make into a paste and drink it three times a day. In the absence of the whole herb, one can make a decoction from powder. This herb is also called Chanca Piedra which according to South American folk medicine is referred to as "stone-breaker" (gallstones and kidney stones). It is also IMPORTANT to have the right diet; I was advised to avoid spices of any kind(except black pepper and rock salk, NO common salt/sea salt), totally avoid foods with fat/oil, proteins etc for quick and fast recovery. Diet should be light. In my case my SGPT and Serum Bilurubin were back to normal in about 2 weeks and no problems since then (this was about 10 years ago). And I know the efficacy of Bhumyamalaki from several relatives and friends who almost died from standard allopathic treatment for jaundice/hepatitis. Many studies have been done on this for liver problems(search for chanca piedra). -yogaman ayurveda, "Cybervaidya" > Bhumyamalaki (it is one word or else it should be bhumi aamalaki) is > a very effective drug for hepatitis of all kinds. > Though I am not sure if an extensive study has been done on its > specific use many products containing bhumyamalaki are available in
Guest guest
Vinod: This is exactly what I was prescribed when I had jaundice. I also know of several relatives and friends who followed the same protocol and the disease was gone very fast. I think the cow's milk should be skimmed and it is ok even without milk. -yogaman > > Prescription: Take 8-10 freshly uprooted plants of Bhumya amlaki (Phylanthus niruri) and grate it with cow's milk (250 gms).
