Face the Devil

Fight to the End

Finish the Game

In life it is very important to learn to play the game properly and truthfully

The role of parents in guiding children at every stage must be with gentleness,

sweetness and love. This is like training a snake-gourd to grow straight by

tying a stone to its tail end. When the snake-gourd is tender, a small stone is

tied. Later, bigger and still bigger stones are used, as the length and size of

the gourd increase. Finally one gets a long and straight snake-gourd.

If you fail to tie the stone at the tender stage of the snake-gourd, you can

never straighten it later…you will only break it, if you use force! A young boy

is like the snake gourd…Give him discipline, in short doses, from childhood and

increase it gradually, till he thinks straight and judges for himself. Then he

can come to no harm and will become an asset to society.

Baba's first slogan to youth in regard to studies is: Start early…Drive slowly and Reach Safely.

He smiled as he described the usual student practice of mugging up lessons

during the last few days before the examinations, pouring out the crammed stuff

on to the answer papers and then coming out of the hall, with completely empty

heads!

Is this the purpose of education? The universities give a pass at 35%, allowing

a student a gap of 65%! Do you know what happens, when this 35% student goes to

work? Very shortly he forgets the mugged up 35% of knowledge and the result is

leaking bridges, squeaking roads and bad decisions.

Education should be given on the lines of the old gurukula system, where the

guru will not let a shishya out of the heritage till he absorbs 100% Vidya. A

student should record permanently in his mind what is taught so that throughout

life he can take out prints, whenever needed…that is the purpose of learning……
