Sai Inspires - 7th February 2006

The ideal of a high standard of life, instead of a high standard of living, has

played havoc within society. A high level of living insists on morality,

humility, detachment, compassion; so the competitive greed for luxury and

conspicuous consumption receives no encouragement and will be destroyed. Now,

people are slaves of their desires, and find themselves unable to conquer their

thirst for pleasure and luxury. They have become too weak to keep their nature

under control, and do not know how to arouse the divine Consciousness that is

latent within them. Spiritual discipline is the only way to effect this basic

transformation. It involves the elimination of the mind which is the obstacle

on the path. The grace of God, if invoked and won, can endow you with the

necessary power. And that God is available to you, awaiting your call.
