Guest guest
Forwarding the message received from "Heart2Heart" RadioSai e-Journal Team, Prasanthi Nilayam. Sairam ++++ Dear Reader, Loving Sairam from the H2H Team. What should be the guiding spirit behind all our actions? Swami enlightens you today. Sai Inspires - 16th October 2005 The body is the prime requisite for the performance of right action (dharma). Indifferent to fame or blame, not seeking power or position, one should perform one’s duty selflessly. Do not be swayed by any consideration other than your duty. Whether it be in a political organization or any other, with regard to a personal matter or in relation to national issues, you should act according to the dictates of your conscience, without any other concern. One can become a courageous leader only if one performs one’s duties in this spirit. All actions must be done in a spirit of service. - Divine Discourse, 1st Jan 1993. 'I AM SAI' Loving Sai Ram and greetings from Prashanti Nilayam. Four days from today, it would be the 20th of October. We wonder if the date rings a bell. Exactly sixty-five years ago on this day, a fourteen year old boy named Satyanarayana Raju, studying in the Government School in Uravakonda in Anantapur District, left for School in the morning, as he did every day. However, on that day, he turned back half way and returned home. There he told his stunned elder brother and sister-in-law: I am no longer your Sathya. I am Sai. I don’t belong to you. I have My work. My devotees are calling Me. I am leaving you. I can no longer stay here. So saying, he walked up to a neighbour’s house and sat on a rock in the garden there while people flocked, bringing flowers and various other offerings. And then, most lovingly, Sathya, who had now revealed Himself as Sai, led the congregation in a Bhajan that has now become famous. Manasa bhajare Gurucharanam,Dustara bhavasagara tharanam. O mind! Meditate on the Lotus Feet of the Lord! That alone will help you to sail across the turbulent ocean called life. The schoolboy Sathya had now become a part of history and in His place there was the Avatar of the Age, Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba! Elder brother Seshama Raju was not entirely convinced, even though people started flocking to the Avatar. Some years later, Seshama Raju, failing to recognise that his younger brother was the Avatar, wrote a letter warning Swami about the pitfalls of life, and how some were decrying Him as a fraud and a trickster. On 25th May, 1947, Swami replied to that letter. Though the letter was intended for Seshama Raju, it was in fact addressed to ‘all who are devoted to Me’. That letter is a powerful declaration of the purpose of the Sai Avatar. In that letter, Baba wrote: I have a Task: To foster all mankind, and ensure for all people lives full of Bliss or Ananda. I have a Vow: To lead all who stray away from the straight path back again into goodness and to save them. I am attached to a ‘Work’ that I love: To remove the suffering of the poor and grant them what they lack. Just reflect on all that has happened since then, and how much our beloved Swami has done for humanity, hardly moving from His native village! We hope that as the Eightieth Birthday approaches, these thoughts would fill your Mind every single second, about how inspiring His life and Message are! See you again next week. Jai Sai Ram.
