Guest guest
172 IMPORTANT SELECTED SLOKAS FROM BHAGAWAT GITA FOR SELF-REALISATION – Part III [Concluding part] CHAPTER IX – THE YOGA OF THE SOVEREIGN SCIENCE AND SOVEREIGN SECRET 11 Fools disregard ME As one clad in human form, Not knowing MY higher Nature As the Great Lord of beings. 22* To those who worship ME alone, thinking of no other, Who are ever devout, I PROVIDE GAIN AND SECURITY. (yogakshemam vahaamyaham)This is the definition of Ananya Bhatkti – unconditional surrender to the Lord. (Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba has declared: “Whoever among devotees dedicates all acts to Me with no other thought, whoever meditates on Me, serves Me, worships Me, remembers Me, know that I am always with him in this world and the next. I bear the burden of his welfare, here and hereafter. If this Sloka is followed in practice, the entire Gita can be understood”. (Geetha Vahini 191-193, 202-204) 26 Whoever offers ME with devotion, A leaf, a flower, a fruit or water,(patram, pushpam, phalam, toyam) I accept that, the pious offering Of the pure in heart. 27* Whatever you DO, whatever you EAT, Whatever you offer in SACRIFICE, whatever you GIFT away, Whatever AUSTERITY you practice, O Kaunteya! Do it as an Offering unto ME. 28* Thus shall you be free from the bondage of Actions Yielding good and bad results. With the Mind firmly set in The YOGA OF RENUNCIATION, AND LIBERATED, THOU SHALT COME TO ME. (Regarding Slokas 27 and 28, Bhagawan has declared: “It is enough if you do all acts as dedicated to the Lord, without any desire. This is the secret of Liberation.” Geetha Vahini page 179) 29* I am the same to all beings. To ME there is none hateful, none dear. But those who worship ME with Devotion, THEY ARE IN ME, AND I AM ALSO IN THEM. 30 Even if a man of the most sinful conduct Worships ME with unwavering faith and devotion, He must be reckoned as Righteous, for he has rightly resolved. 31* Soon does he become a man of Righteousness And obtains lasting peace. O Kaunteya! Know for certain That MY DEVOTEE NEVER PERISHES. 34* Fix thy Mind on ME, Be devoted to ME. Sacrifice unto ME. Bow down to ME. Having thus united Thy whole SELF with ME, Taking ME as the Supreme Goal, THOU SHALT VERILY COME TO ME. CHAPTER X – THE YOGA OF THE DIVINE GLORIES 10* To them, ever devout, worshipping ME with love, I give the Yoga of Discrimination, BY WHICH THEYCOME TO ME. 11* Out of pure compassion for them, Dwelling in their Hearts, I destroy the ignorance-born darkness, BY THE LUMINOUS LAMP OF WISDOM. 20* I AM THE SELF, O GUDAKESA! SEATED IN THE HEARTS OF ALL BEINGS. I AM THE BEGINNING, THE MIDDLE, AND ALSO THE END OF ALL BEINGS. (This Sloka is considered by Ramana Maharshi as the quintessence of all the 701 Slokas of the Bhagavad Gita) CHAPTER XI – THE YOGA OF THE VISION OF THE COSMIC FORM 55* He who does work for ME, He who looks on ME as the Supreme, Who is devoted to ME, Who is free from Attachment, Who is without hatred for any being, HE COMES TO ME, O PANDAVA! CHAPTER XII – THE YOGA OF DEVOTION 6*,7* But those who worship ME, Renouncing all actions in ME, Regarding ME as the Supreme Goal, Meditating on ME With single-minded Yoga –To those whose Minds Are ever fixed on ME, I become very soon, O Partha! THE DELIVERER FROM THE OCEAN OF THIS MORTAL SAMSARA. 8* Fix your Mind on ME alone. Let your thoughts dwell on ME. YOU WILL HEREAFTER ABIDE IN ME ALONE. Of this there is no doubt. 11 If you are not able to do even this, (Abhyaasa Yoga) Then taking refuge in ME, Renounce the Fruits of all Actions, with the self subdued. 12* Better indeed is Knowledge than Abhyasa, Better than Knowledge is Meditation. Better than Meditation is the Renunciation of the Fruits of Actions. PEACE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWS RENUNCIATION. 13* He who hates no being, who is Friendly and Compassionate to all, Who is free from the feeling of “I” and “Mine”, Even-minded in pain and pleasure, And FORBEARING. (Genuine COMPASSION towards all sentient beings and the virtue of FORBEARANCE are the true hallmarks of the seeker on the Spiritual Path) 14* Ever Content, steady in Meditation, Self-controlled and possessed of firm conviction, With Mind and Intellect fixed on ME, He MY devotee is dear to ME. 15* He by whom the world is not afflicted, and whom the world cannot afflict, He who is free from joy, anger, Fear and anxiety, He is dear to ME. 16* He who has no wants, who is pure and prompt, untroubled, And who is Selfless in all his undertakings, He who is thus devoted to ME, Is dear to ME. 17* He who neither rejoices nor hates nor grieves nor desires, Renouncing good and evil, full of Devotion, He is dear to ME. 18* He who is the same to foe and friend, And also in honour and dishonor, who is the same in cold and heat, In pleasure and pain, Who is free from Attachment, 19* To whom censure and praise are equal, who is silent, content with anything, Homeless, steady-minded, full of Devotion, That man is dear to ME. 20* They verily who follow this Immortal Dharma Described above, endued with SRADDHA, Looking upon ME as the Supreme Goal, and Devoted, THEY ARE EXCEEDINGLY DEAR TO ME. Born of Prakriti, Bind the indestructible Embodied One, Fast in the Body. 6 Of these Sattva, is luminous and unobstructive. It binds, O sinless one! The embodied one By Attachment to Action. 8 But know Tamas to be born of Ignorance, Deluding all embodied beings. It binds fast, O Bharata! By Negligence, Indolence and Sleep.
