Guest guest
GAUTAM BUDDHA On a full moon night Beautiful and bright, A charming prince With fame and fragrance Renounces this worldly life, Leaving behind his son and wife, And embraces poverty, And embarks on a difficult journey Into the jungles and mountains, And suffers agony and pain To find out joy and ecstasy Sans sorrow, behold and see ! He suffers hardships of life With a smile to end his strife Permanently and control the mind, And break the chains that bind ! Lo ! divine love springs in his heart And he plays a noble part, Loving equally one and all, The rich and poor, the big and small The Virtuous and the sinner, Perceiving God in all; what a wonder ! He becomes nonviolent in thought, word and deed, And becomes an angel, indeed ! Lo ! the dacoits turn into saints under his influence; Oh ! What a magic in his non-violence, Again on a full moon night He beholds the eternal Light, Making him happy and bright, And ending his fear and fright ! We salute Buddha, the Beloved, Who attracts like a magnet ! —Bakht N. Moolcbandan (Source Shri Sai Leela April 1974)
