Guest guest
They then asked him, “Where should we bury this tiger?” Sai Maharaj replied, “This tiger was meritorious. Do not grieve that he had passed away here. It was destined that he dies here today. He has achieved permanent bliss by dying here. Behind the Takia is the temple to Shiva. Bury this tiger next to the Nandi opposite the temple.” He added, “If you bury him there, he will attain liberation. The rinanubandha you had with that tiger will be discharged. It was indebted to you in its last life. It has served you till today to discharge that debt.” The dervishes carried the tiger and buried it behind the statue of Nandi opposite the Shiva temple. What a miracle was it to see the tiger leaving its mortal coil in an instant? Had this incident ended at this point, perhaps it would have passed from the memories of the people. But Sri Sai Baba entered mahasamadhi exactly seven days after this. Perhaps that is why this incident is forever fresh in the memory of all the people who witnessed it. _Sri Sai Satcharitra – chapter 3 On 12 November 1969, Sri Tryambaka Rao of Ojar village erected a statue of a tiger in Dwarkamai to commemorate this incident where a tiger left his body before Sri Sai Baba at the mosque, exactly seven days before Baba’s samadhi. Note 1. Baba gave Rs.150/- to the despondent dervishes who had lost their sole means of living. 2. A painting inspired by this incident is shown on the cover of this issue. This is not an original authentic photograph of the incident. _The Editor (To be contd....)
