Guest guest
In Shri Sai Satcharita, dangers of pleasures of the senses have been described at various places. In chapter 47 Hemadpant says:: "This craving for the pleasures of the senses is very dangerous. It ultimately destroys the person, craving for them. The deer dies because of its craving for sound, the cobra on account of wearing a beautiful jewel on its head, and the moth on account of its love for bright light.Such is the company of the senses. For enjoyment of the pleasures of the senses, money is required and while endeavouring to procure money, the craving for the senses increases more and more which then becomes irresistible."Lord krishna in the Bhagwad Gita says the same thing:::The person dwelling on the sense objects develops attachment for them. >From attachment springs desire and from desire--- unfulfilled----ensues anger. From anger ensues infatuation, from infatuation, confusion of memory, loss of reason, and from loss of reason one goes to complete ruin.Lord krishna also gives advises how to control the senses by giving example of a tortoise::When like the tortoise withdraws its limbs from all directions, he withdraws his senses from the sense objects, and his mind becomes stable. The above is for those seeking self -realization who with great efforts avoid the pleasures of the senses and acheive their goal of self realization. But what about the common family man who is constantly in close touch with these pleasures and is usually of a weak mind??? How should he avoid the above mentioned dangers??? Should he give up his family life all together???[will contd tomorrow] Allaah - Maalik!! May the Merciful Sri Sai Baba always shower His grace on us and our families and remove our problems and anxieties by giving us all - strength , goodluck, success and happiness with peace of mind.Sai bhakt,Deepa Hdebu7366
