Guest guest
The article below "New Jersey swings to Indian Mela" (TIMESOFINDIA.COM[ FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22, 2004 11:02:02 PM ]) is represented in brief. What do you get when you put together 10,000 Indians, ethnic merchandise, desi food, mehendi stalls and dhol beats - a resplendent Indian Mela, 2004. The Indo-American Fair 2004 (Indian Mela), organised by Shirdi Sai Dham Inc (a non-profit religious and cultural organisation) on September 18 and 19, 2004 at Mercer County Park, New Jersey, was testimony to the euphoria Indian festivals still garner abroad. The Mela presented a variety of treats from showcasing the rich culture of India, including costume jewellery, handicrafts, ethnic dresses, fashion wear, henna to sumptuous Indian cuisine. Live entertainment was provided by prominent DJs of the Tri-State. There were dances from various regions of India, including dance recitals by upcoming child artist Riya Yadav. Madi's dhol beats got everyone on their toes. Songs and ghazals by Bela Bhatt, Anurag Varde, Nikhil Bhat also enthralled the audience. Kulraaj Anand and Guru of EBC Radio hosted the programme. The Mela aimed at endorsing and rekindling the magic of the Indian heritage and culture. Shirdi Sai Dham has established itself as one of the premier cultural organisations. It has presented and organised several events in the past, including the Indo-American Fair, Diwali celebrations at Royal Albert Palace, Bollywood concerts in addition to the celebrations of many major Hindu religious festivals, including Shivratri, Ram Navami, Guru Poornima, and Dussehra. Shirdi Sai Dham is named after Shirdi Sai Baba, a great saint and God Incarnate.
