3. SAI'S NEWS FROM THE TIME MACHINE

June 1991: All India Sai Samaj celebrated its Golden Jubilee at

Mylapore, Madras.

Ashada -1908 (Gurupoornima): Prompted by BABA, Dadha Kelkar and

others started the "GURU WORSHIP" in Shirdi.

4. SAI PHILOSOPHY:

SAI PHILOSOPHY FROM THE DIARY OF SAI.BA.NI.SA.

These messages are the outcome and essence of the dream sequences of

Saibanisa as given by Lord Sainath, which reflect the Sai Philosophy

and his high thinking. They carry a sense of deep meaning and are

generally thought provoking, enough to set one's thinking process.

Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY.

101) 1st April 1997: After enjoying all worldly pleasures and

comforts, mortal remains of the physical body get back to the soil.

Whereas "ATMA" (Soul) after tasting of "ADHYATMA" (Spiritualism)

enjoys the "SUPREME". Is it not better to know more and more about

this immortal "ATMA"?

102) 10th April 1997: A caged bird lives with the food provided by

its master. "ATMA" within the body lives on the food provided by

cosmic energies and "NAVAVIDHABHAKTI" (Nine forms of devotion)

103) 28th April 1997: "GOD" created nature for the benefit of the

mankind, whereas man because of his "AHANKARA" (Ego) assumes that he

is the "CREATOR".

104) 4th April 1997: Mother bird protects younger ones from

impending dangers by hiding them under its wings. "DWARAKAMAI" will

offer solace and protection to whosoever comes into its fold.

105) 13th May 1997: When your mind is preoccupied with the wealth

locked up in your house, setting out on pilgrimage has no sanctity.

12 February 1992

Letter – 38 (Chapter – 40)

Dear Chakrapani,

Hemadri Pant beautifully described the Sai Leelas (Divine actions of

Sri Sai) in this chapter. Reading these Leelas gives rise to a

powerful desire in us for experiencing them. If Sri Sai makes

similar incidents occur in our lives we can then soak in the

happiness generated by them. Sri Sai fulfills such wishes of HIS

devotees and brings happiness to them. I am but one of HIS numerous

devotees who has experienced such happiness through HIS Leelas. I

will narrate my experience with Sri Sai in this letter. Hemadri Pant

says in this chapter " Sri Sai placed HIS hand on the devotee's

head, transferred HIS energy to them for destruction, of all

discrimination (religious / caste / language) which differentiates,

and imparts integration – unity with the real self – Godhead." I

have gone through such an experience. My uncle, husband of my

mother's younger sister, Sri Upadhyayula Pereswara Somayazulu garu –

a Sri Sai devotee, was on his deathbed. On 29 January 1992 after

completion of noon harati to Sri Sai, even though my uncle was

suffering from unbearable pain, he called me to his bedside,

lovingly looked at me and placed his hand on my head. He stroked

gently on my head and at that time I experienced a feeling that Sri

Sai was blessing me by placing HIS hand on my head. Sri Hemadri Pant

narrated in this chapter an incident through which he experienced a

Sri Sai Leela. The incident was Sri Sai's arrival in the form of a

photograph at the residence of Sri Hemadri Pant. I quote from the

chapter "Sri Hemadri Pant unwrapped the newspaper, used to wrap the

package, and found with delight a big framed beautiful picture of

Sri Sai inside. He was immensely wonder struck; his heart melted and

tears of joy flowed down from his eyes. He had goose pimples, he

bent forwards and touched with reverence Baba's feet in the

picture." I have experienced a similar incident in my life. It was

during the year 1990 I had decided to install a new-framed picture

of Sri Sai on Vijaya Dasami day (10th day of the Dussera festival)

in our house and do Anna Santarpana (feeding of the poor).

I had bought a nice photo of Sri Sai and gave it for getting framed

well in time, in fact 7 days before Vijaya Dasami, in a photo

framing shop near our house and had even paid an advance amount of

Rs. 50/- to the shop owner. He promised to deliver the framed photo

in 2 days time. He did not keep his word and the framed photo was

not even ready on the penultimate day. I confronted the shop owner

on his breach of promise and his response was " Why are you getting

agitated? I will work in the night to complete the framing job and

deliver the finished product at your doorstep tomorrow well in time

for your Puja (ritual worship). This is my promise." I believed in

his promise. The next day dawned, it was Vijaya Dasami, the hour of

worship was approaching and our house did not have a framed picture

of Sri Sai Samadhi Mandir along with HIS idol. One had to go a long

distance to a market for purchasing a ready made framed picture of

Sri Sai for which there was not enough time. The time for the noon

Harati was fast approaching and I did not know what to do. In that

helpless situation I could not do anything but pray to Sri Sai from

the bottom of my heart and asked for a solution to the problem faced

by me. At that time I did not even possess the book Sri Sai

Satcharitra, on the life of Sri Sai, and did not read that book. My

thoughts were going haywire as I did not possess the desired framed

photo of Sri Sai, did not know how to perform the noon Harati and

unconsciously I picked up a book of pictures, purchased by me in

1989 during my first visit to Shirdi. The picture of Sri Sai on the

cover of the book did not catch my fancy. I opened the book and saw

the picture of Sri Sai, visualized by me, on the 1st page. At that

moment I experienced the same feeling experienced by Sri Hemadri

Pant in those days. Immediately I placed that picture on a table and

gave the noon Harati. I did not know that that book contained a

picture of Sri Sai as visualized and desired by me.

I trusted that Photo frame dealer before Vijaya Dasami, but he let

me down. I put all my trust and faith in Sri Sai as a last resort,

at the time of noon Harati on that Vijaya Dasami day, and HE

alleviated my mental anguish by HIS coming to my home in the form of

a picture in that book. So you place your full faith and trust, from

the depths of your mind, in GOD i.e. Sri Sai when you are cornered

in a difficult situation and HE will come forward in some form or

other to help you. You must believe in this principle.

In service of Sri Sai,

Your father.

7. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA

SV.SWAMY: swamymain

6/21/2004 09:22:23 –0700

Sai Ram. Let us continue with the Spiritual Gems from Chapter 11 of

Sai Satcharitra. We have seen how Baba accepted the worship of

Dr.Pandit. Now let us see how He accepted Haji Siddiq Falke as a

member of His Darbar. "There was no knowing, when Baba would accept

a devotee. That depended on His sweet will. Sidik Falke's story is

to the point. One gentleman by name Sidik Falke of Kalyan, after

making a pilgrimage to Mecca and Madina, came to Shirdi. He lived in

a Chavadi, facing north, and sat in the open courtyard of the

Dwarakamai. For nine months, Baba ignored him, and did not allow him

to step into the Dwarakamai."

Sai Ram. God or Guru grant their Grace only when the time is ripe.

In the case of Haji Sidik Falke, Baba kept him waiting for a full

nine months. It is almost as if the spiritual child of Falke

conceived in Mecca and Madina grew in the Spiritual Womb of Shirdi

for the proper time before being delivered. "Falke felt much

disconsolate, and did not know what to do. Somebody advised him not

to be disappointed; but to try to approach Baba through Shama

(Madhavarao Deshpande), a close and intimate devotee of Baba. He

told him that as they approach the God Shiva through his servant and

devotee, Nandi, so Baba should be approached through Shama. Falke

liked the idea and implored Shama to intercede for him."

Sai Ram. Baba pulled many devotees to Him through Shama. Shama's

devotion to Baba was of the highest order and Baba sent His grace

through Shama on many occasions. This is one of such many. "Shama

agreed and on a convenient occasion spoke to Baba about him thus: -

"Baba, why don't You allow the old Haji to step into the Dwarkamai

while so many persons freely come and go, after taking Your darshan;

why not bless him once?" Baba replied, "Shama, you are too young to

understand things. If the Fakir (Allah) does not allow, what can I

do? Without His grace, who will climb into the masjid? Well, go to

him and ask him whether he will come to the narrow footpath near the

Barvi well.""

Sai Ram. Baba always described Himself as a humble servant of God,

Allah. The narrow footpath represents the path of Bhakti (Devotion),

Prapatti (Surrender). It is narrow and if one slips, one is likely

to fall into the well of Samsar. Baba is referring to Shama's

spiritual stage of development when He referred to his youth. "Shama

went and returned with an affirmative answer. Again Baba said to

Shama,"Ask him whether he is willing to pay me the sum of Rs.

40,000/- in four instalments." Shama went and returned with the

answer that he was willing to pay even 40 lacs. Again Baba said to

Shama- "We are going to butcher a goat in the Dwarakamai, so ask

him, whether he would like to have mutton, haunch or testicles of

the goat." Shama returned with the answer that the Haji would be

happy to receive a small crumb from Baba's kolamba (mudpot)."

Sai Ram. On the face of it Haji's answers appear to be very

appropriate and demonstrates his spiritual sincerity. But was there

just a trace of egoism, pride in these answers, which even the

learned Haji was himself not aware? Possible. To Baba's Third Eye

(refer to His description as Siva above), nothing is of course

hidden. "Hearing this Baba got excited and with His hands threw away

the earthen jars and kolamba and straightway advanced to the Haji

and lifting His Kafni up with His hands said - "Why do you brag and

fancy yourself great and pose yourself as an old Haji? Do you read

Koran like this? You are proud of your pilgrimage to Mecca, but you

do not know Me." Being thus scolded, the Haji was confounded."

Sai Ram. It does appear as if Baba is scolding the Haji for the

pride of learning and for the pilgrimage to Mecca etc. The Haji was

confounded because he himself was probably not aware of this facet

of his psyche. It is also likely that Baba was testing His new Chela

for his implicit obedience, for his willingness to accept all curses

and abuses as Guru's prasad. "Baba then went back to the Masjid,

purchased a few baskets of mangoes and sent them to the Haji. Then

again Baba went to the Haji and taking out Rs.55/- from His pocket,

gave them to the Haji. From that time, Baba loved the Haji, invited

him for meals and the Haji, thereafter, came into the Masjid

whenever he liked. Baba gave him at times some rupees, and thus the

Haji was enlisted in Baba's Darbar."

Sai Ram. It does appear that the Haji passed the spiritual test of

Baba. The mangoes and the money represent the Guru's Grace.

This incident underscores an important spiritual lesson. God tests

the devotees and those who pass the test progress very fast on the

spiritual path. Kunti Devi, the mother of Pandavas was reported to

have asked her nephew Krishna the boon of constant troubles so that

she can remember Him that much better. Another important spiritual

gem of a lesson from this chapter is that the devotee should accept

all trials and tribulations as God's and Guru's prasad and surrender

the ego at the Guru's feet. Sai Ram.

We shall continue with the chapter in the coming weeks. Sai Ram.

8.QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY:

(By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao)

"Shashi": shashi_31

91. God is absolute Bliss. He creates the Bliss consciousness

throughout the Universe and sustains it and unwinds it again into

Bliss.

92. God is the Ultimate Truth. He is the purest One. One must reach

the purest soul throbbing in the psychic center, to be conscious of

the inner Divinity.

93A. Many amongst you have doubts as to how to change the inborn

qualities and basic nature. Do Sadhana with full concentration on

Me, so that you will not have bodily attachments, desires and

passion. Drive away likes and dislikes. Do not grieve for anybody or

anything and don't be joyous. Treat criticism and praise equally.

Don't waver and keep away from greed and attachment. Be with the

self and always be pleasant. Don't entertain unnecessary discussion

when you talk to others. If anyone argues with you, behave as if you

are blind, deaf and dumb person. Do not harm any one including Chara

and Achara (living and non-living). Treat all creatures equally. Do

not cajole or criticize anyone. Keep your indriyas always under your

control.

93B. Let no thought perturb your mind, look into your inner self

(Antaratma) and be rid of bodily attachments. One should not have

love for life nor hatred for death. Keep the impulses of the mind

under control. Do Sadhana for perfect peace, happiness and Sat-Chit-

Ananda. If you lead your life in this way, your inborn qualities

will change. As you progress your mind will be dispassionate and

then you will experience detachment. Do Sadhana to attain this

gradually. Then you will realize that you are living only to reduce

your Prarabdha Karma. Those who attain this shall be unaffected by

sorrows, worries and disturbances. If you take complete refuge in

Me, your illusion dissolves like a cloud.

94. Do not seek easy ascetic escape. Face the problems of life. Defy

even death by Divine Consciousness. Life is not a death is not its

goal. Conquer the world by your spiritual energy. Be a bold

challenge to its enigma. Immortalize your life by service and

sacrifice.

95. Be not wicked and immoral. Be honest and straight forward and

you will be happy. Face all external impediments boldly. Then you

will progress from Truth to Truth.

96. My Grace is never for him who is indolent and negligent. My

Grace is for him who is persevering and industrious.

97. A miracle can be a moment's wonder, but a change, according to

the Divine Law, alone will endure.

98. Pride is envy of man, which leads him to a fall. It can be

replaced by cultivating humility.

99. When you commit a mistake, don't look back. Learn the lessons

from the thing and then look forward. Mistakes should teach lessons

of wisdom. The past cannot be changed. The future is in your hands.

100. Don't argue about scriptures (Granthas). Each one writes based

on one's experience. Praise the great books written by the

enlightened and Jnanis. Respect the scriptures of other religions.

To be continued…

9. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES:

Sairam,

I really appreciate the work effort put forth to host such a

wonderful site. I would like to share my previous night's experience.

I always considered a particular photo of "Satya Sai Baba" as my

best friend, which I always carry safely where ever I go. I am an

ardent devotee of Satya Sai Baba and have had his Darshan several

times when I was in Bangalore before marriage. After marriage, I

carried the same photo from Bangalore to Chicago. I never read any

kind of Parayan /Sai Namavali' or anything like that. But always

considered Baba as my friend and shared everything with him. My

husband is a devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba. He once performed Shirdi

Baba's Parayan after marriage. I was kind to be attracted to it and

wanted to do the same. Last week I started and completed yesterday.

Yesterday night, by luck I found this site, while I was searching

for Sai Organizations.

I was enthrilled to see original photos placed at the link "Sai in

Camera". Later I started reading "Share your experiences " .I was

feeling very happy and felt "luckily" for devotees who saw Shirdi

Sai Baba in their dreams.

To my wonder, in the morning early hours sleep say around 5:00 AM, I

did see Shirdi Sai Baba in the dream for the FIRST time. I was very

very happy. I don't remember the conversations at all except for one

thing I asked Baba. I asked him to stay with me and bless me. So

Baba walked up to my favorite photo of Satya Sai Baba, stood before

it and said " I am always in here ". I was very happy. Immediately

the alaram went ON .I woke up from sleep smiling.

Next thing I am involved doing is typing this mail to the site. I

would like to receive all the newsletters to my ID. Please KEEP ME

IN YOUR MAILING LIST.

Thanks and Regards,

Rajeshwari.

10. SAI WITH CHILDREN:

http://www.saidarbar.org/HTML/portraits/7.jpg

Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad.

Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use to play with

children and used to tell stories to them? I felt children visiting

Saidarbar should be entertained with good stories. Baba told before

He took His Maha Samadhi that He is Muralidhar and would like to

play in Booty Wada (Samadhi Mandir) with His devotees. So I started

Krishna Leelas with effect from the first issue of New Year 2004.

Study well and learn good manners. Tell your parents to read the

Glory of Shirdi Sai - Fortnightly E-magazine and narrate Krishna

Leelas from this magazine.

VATSASURA:

In the meanwhile, Kansa had not given up his evil designs to kill

Krishna. He was just waiting for the right movement. After the death

of Putna and Trinavarta he knew that this time his enemy was not an

ordinary being and was endowed with magical powers. So he had to

call more powerful demons to destroy Krishna. His agents reported to

him that the people of Gokul had simply disappeared. Not a single

human being was to be seen in the village. And no body knew as to

where had all of them gone. Kansa then sent his soldiers and spies

in all directions who came with the news that Krishna was growing up

in Vrindavan. Now Kansa decided that somehow he will have to kill

Krishna. He had heard that Krishna spent his day time with the

calves in the forest. Kansa sent a powerful demon called Vatsasura

who could take the form of a calf.

One day as Krishna was playing other cowherds they noticed that a

strange calf was moving in the herd with their calves. The looks of

this calf were very dangerous. Krishna gave a signal to Balaram and

they both moved slowly towards the calf. Balaram approached him from

the front. He always took upon himself any danger to Krishna. Coming

from behind, Krishna caught hold of the calf with both its legs

before it could do anything. Then he lifted the calf above his head

and dashed it against a huge Kapithha tree. The demon Vatsasura was

killed then and there. Immediately he was transformed into his

original form.

The other cowherds were struck with horror when they saw all this

and they started cheering Krishna. They ran towards him and hugged

him. Krishna and Balaram asked the cowherds not to tell about the

incident to anyone because then they would not be allowed to go out

with the calves. The cowherds promised them this and kept talking

about it among themselves.

……..To be continued.

Sairam Members of Saidarbar – Wallingford and Saidarbar - Hyderabad,

I'm always involved in Sai Nama prachara, it is again due to His

Grace I requested you to go through Chap45 of SS. It is very

important chapter as Baba confirms through Kaka Saheb that He can

also give Sadgathi.A person of Kaka Saheb Dikshit's staure and

caliber had a doubt whether he could get the powerful bhakthi as

explained by Navnadhs to King Janaka. This doubt had come while

reading Eknath Bhagavatha. Shyama could not convince Dikshit. It is

only Anand Rao Pakhade's dream vision clarified and dispelled Kaka

Saheb's doubt. Baba wanted this assurance to His devotees after

niryana chapter. The more you read the more enlightenment you get.

Every act of Baba and every word from His mouth has a meaning. I

once again thank Wallingford Sai Darbar for inviting me to talk in
