2. SAI PHILOSOPHY:

SAI PHILOSOPHY FROM THE DIARY OF SAI.BA.NI.SA.

These messages are the outcome and essence of the

dream sequences of Saibanisa as given by Lord Sainath,

which reflect the Sai Philosophy and his high

thinking. They carry a sense of deep meaning and are

generally thought provoking, enough to set one?s

thinking process.

41) 29th December 1995: You turn richer when you serve

a thirsty rich person with much needed water without

any envy and anticipation of returns.

..

42) 30th December 1995: Possession of "ARISHADVARGAS"

is like cancer to the physical body. Remove them from

the roots to live with peace.

..

43) 2nd January 1996: Once born "DEATH" follows you

like shadow how long can you run away from it? Do not

be scared of the shadow.

..

44) 11th January 1996: When thieves rob your house you

complain to the police. Think where do you complain

when affections and attachments totally engulf your

mind and heart?

..

45) 13th January 1996: While in search of the

ultimate, depend only on yourself. At the end, the

experience would be that of sweet water drawn from a

well. Depending on others will be like chasing a

"MIRAGE" rudderless.

SAI IN LETTERS(Saibanisa's letters to his Son)

Translated from the Telugu original into English by

Sri Sai Devotee Madhusudan Nori.

Secunderabad - 28 February 2000

I request the readers to read first Sri Sai

Satcharitra in English by Late Sri Nagesh Vasudev

Gunaji, before reading these letters.

OM SAI

Hyderabad

30 January 1992

Letter - 25 (Chapter 27)

Dear Chakrapani,

Sri Sai neither wrote any books or read any books at

any time. But HE made HIS disciples read the foremost

books of spiritual scriptures in HIS presence. The

books specially selected by HIM for reading by HIS

disciples were Gurucharitra, Vishnu Sahasranaamam,

Bhagawata and Bhagavad-Gita. Thus Sri Sai conveyed the

importance of reading spiritual scriptures, for the

growth of human beings in the field of spirituality.

Therefore it is my wish that you read these books in

the future.

The words uttered by Sri Sai, in the incident in which

He took the book Vishnu Sahasranamam from Ramadasi

with an intention to make Shyama read that book, are

unforgettable. Try to understand the inner

significance of those words of HIS ? One can get many

books if one has money but one cannot get people -.

The implication is that with an ego called wealth

anything can be bought except for a human being. While

elaborating on this subject, I would like to mention a

few more aspects to you. There is nothing wrong in

spending money for undertaking good and noble tasks

nevertheless do not earn bad reputation through

miserliness. There are many incidents in my life to

showcase this point. One of our relatives, my Uncle

Sri Upadhyayula Pereswara Somayajulu garu did not have

any children, nevertheless he gathered children, of

his relatives, and educated them. I experienced his

love and hospitality by staying in house for 10 years

and was educated by his kindness.

I can never forget this help rendered by him. He never

expected or took even one Rupee from my father in

those 10 years. When I recall people like him my mind

gets filled with devotion towards them. I cannot

forget one more person in my life; he is my

father-in-law and your maternal grand father. He

measures everything in life in terms of money, which

caused mental upset to a great extent in me. I

realized that I should distance myself from such

people and hence am living far away from him.

Therefore do not live your life materialistically i.e.

with pride for your wealth and material possessions.

If you can financially help any one, please do so with

humility. If you cannot render financial help then

politely say so instead of berating or abusing the

other person, with pride in your wealth. Sri Sai was

pleased with the devotion of Smt. Khaparde, and HE

narrated details of her previous births. From this

incident one can understand how good and noble acts

lead to growth in successive life cycles. Let us then

resolve to undertake good and noble deeds, with

blessings of Sri Sai, and progress towards achieving

higher level births.

In service of Sri Sai,

Your father.

Sri Sai devotee Madhusudan Nori.

5. SAIBANISA'S THOUGHTS ON GRUHASTHASRAMA :

http://www.saidarbar.org/discourses/2b.jpg

Sri Shirdi Saibaba practiced celibacy through out his

life. BABA advocated his devotees to follow the

traditions of family life in order to achieve social

harmony. This alone will help in building a healthy

society and usher alround happiness in one's life.

Baba wanted his devotees to fulfill their moral and

social obligations called for in the materialistic

World and then to work towards the ultimate i.e.

reaching the God. Incidentally a major portion of

Baba's devotees are from those who follow

'Gruhasthasrama' without any hindrance. Saibanisa

Gopala Rao Ravada has read a number of Books and

literature on this particular topic by different

authors and desires to put his ideas before you all.

Hence an attempt is made to high light his

observations on this subject, aptly titled as '

Saibanisa's thoughts on Gruhasthasrama'. We earnestly

hope that our readership will appreciate and encourage

our efforts.

Raghu Raman Satulury

1. By nature man is a social being and he is bound to

offer food and clothing to his dependents and the

needy.

2. Man has to speak good words and please his wife and

children by fulfilling their worldly needs.

3. One is eligible to have his diet only after he has

ensured that everyone in his family including his aged

parents had their share.

4. A father should bring up his son with love up to

the age of five, with discipline upto the age of

sixteen and thereafter advise him as a friend.

5. Never use harsh words to a son past sixteen and a

daughter past twelve.

7. WHOLISTIC HEALTH :

"SV.SWAMY" svswamy1 &

By Sai's grace, I have been inspired to share my

knowledge of wholistic (holistic if you prefer that

spelling) health systems with those in need. With that

objective, a 'wholistichealth' was

started. Similar groups were also started in other

servers. While it is clear that only Sai heals, it is

also known that He helps directly or indirectly. This

is His way of helping indirectly. So, those Sai

Devotees who are in need of health-related

information, especially in Bach Flowers, Homeopathy,

Reiki, Tissue Remedies and most importantly in

Spiritual Healing are requested to avail the FREE

services by joining our group.

8. QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY:

(By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao)

"Shashi": shashi_31

8. Pearls of Wisdom - the Moral Teachings of Baba

given to the Humanity.

15. If you want to develop spiritually, think all past

actions belong to your past life. This will make it

easy to ignore them and to concentrate on laying the

basis for your future spiritual development.

16. You must be devoid of all personal desires,

personal options and completely surrender to me. By

changing your way of life now itself, the future can

also be changed. Don?t think of the past at all but

only think of the present. Thrown your past into the

dust heap, make a new beginning, seek higher goal,

then you can create Universal Brotherhood. If you

destroy the false tendencies in you, spirituality will

develop in you.

17. You must not be attached to wealth, it must not

become your aim. Your goal is already fixed and must

not go back from it.

18. Absolute faith in Me will help you and give

strength. Your journey through life will help you.

Your journey through life cannot always be smooth as

there will be an admixture of prosperity and reverses.

The problems which confront you and the joy are

because of your previous acts. You get rewards for

your pious deeds in your previous births and receive

punishment in the same form, when you indulge in

misdeeds in your previous births. But the impact of

the severity of punishments can be mitigated when you

remain devoted to God. Absolute faith and sense of

commitment will surely result in your developing

spiritual power and moral strength to resist

committing evil acts. By virtue of your pious conduct

the next birth will be purposeful and you will enjoy

the presence of divinity in your undertakings.

Prayers, devotion, adherence to duties of God lead you

to good conduct.

19. Body, mind, senses, and Buddhi are the only

insentient. God cannot be purchased through insentient

objects. So never think that God can be realized

through actions such as gifts of material objects. God

will be realized only, when the affinity for the

insentient matter is totally renounced.

20. God is the most gracious one and He has neither

likes nor dislikes. His actions are always full of

justice and mercy.

21. Never think that your mind, intellect, senses and

body are yours. The thought of accepting them as yours

is wrong and it creates impurity, which give birth to

other impurities. You must realize that all the

worldly things belong to Me. Then your external

affinity for Me will be increased.

22. You must have equanimity in happy and sad

circumstances. The happiness and sad things appear and

disappear. These are all only temporary. So you must

be established in the Self. By establishing yourself

in the Self, you will have equanimity. This equanimity

is worship of God.

23. Avoid attachment and crookedness, dullness of

understanding and conceit. These are the obstacles to

your sadhana. These can be removed by listening again

and again. Constant meditation on things heard will

end the habit of cynical criticism. All the above

things will vanish by constant meditation.

24. Ajnana is the mental attitude that has reference

to the external object. Under the light of VIJNANA,

it can be prevented. Turn your thoughts outward and

you know the world with all its agitations; turn

inwards and then you realize the calmness and the

Bliss.

25. Attachment is an avalanche, egoism is a volcano.

10. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES:

12/19/2003 04:35:51 +0000

"shoba sridhar" : shobasri

Sairam,

I am a follower of Shirdi Sai and have been

constantly guided by Him through

the help of Uncle Saibanisaji. Our prayers to Sai

Maharaj and Uncle

Saibanisaji. I would like to share one of my

experiences that put a dramatic

change in our life. Last year from August, I was laid

off for four months

nearly, after a six years of service in a reputed

company. That shattered my

faith and hope of existence in this country, and

constantly I prayed to

Baba, and even thought about going back to India. At

that time Uncle

Saibanisaji used to advise that Baba is aware of my

situation and He is

presenting a good opportunity. I could not believe, as

we started spending

from our savings.

On the Thursday 19th December last year, I had a dream

of Shirdi Sai, which

I vividly remember even now. It was early morning

around 2 am or so. I was

walking with lot of people in a spiritualistic place,

and someone shows me

the footprints on the grass, saying that Baba has

walked through this way.

And he says, if I want to see Shirdi Sai, I must take

that path and follow.

I go through that path, and it leads me to a big tree

with lot of branches

and huge shade underneath. I see people walking around

in circle of the

tree, where a big tomb is kept. The tomb top is open

and see the body of

Shirdi Sai lying there. His structure looks wooden and

as if He has been

there in that state lifeless. When I approach his

body, to touch for

Blessings, suddenly Sai wakes up and throws a wood or

something at me

angrily saying "You wanted this, take it" and

immediately .His

angry face turned into a smile, with His teeth showing

and wrinkles in eyes.

This is happening while all the people of going around

in circles. I was

startled and woke up suddenly.

Exactly one week later, I was called for an interview

and was placed in a

position in Chicago by a company, amidst confusion of

pay, visa etc. I

started working from there, and continuing with His

Grace, moved my family

etc. I am now under the strong influence of Sai that

nothing happens without

His will, and if we have full faith in Him and

worship, there will always be

constant happiness and peace in our lives.

Thank you,

Sairam.

Dear Sai Bandhus,

May I once again share Lord Sai Miracles in Canada

which I had experienced on Nov.29.2003

which happens to be my birthday. Lord Sai always gave

source of strength and security whosoever called Him

with Faith and Love.

I had Lord Sticker on the left side windshield of my

car since I purchased. I was on emergency visit to my

hometown and returned to Canada. Due to fog moist on

the car, Lord Sai sticker disappeared on the

windshield; I was very much worried and may be an ill

omen sign this day. I cried O lord you have gone far

away from my drive of life. I look around all my car

if the sticker had fallen off the windshield but in

vain. I was earnestly praying for myself that Lord Sai

doesn't me to see him and bless me on this day.

However, I consoled myself that Whatever He does, He

is always right, we are stupid not to understand His

leelas.

I went to the restaurant on that day, had my lunch and

returned to the car. Trust me all can you believe it

what happened when I opened my car. I saw unique Baba

Sticker placed on the driver seat. It is never kept in

my car anytime. I am surprised and shocked to learn

Baba Leelas once again. He has always answered my

Prayers whenever I am in distress and remorse.

Baba once again revived His faith in me and exhibit

that Whenever you Call me, I am there.

Baba always showered His choicest blessings in

numerous ways to repose Faith in him in good and bad

events of the day.

May Lord Sai bless every Sai devotee around the globe

to have peaceful and content life. Ravinder Thota -

11. SAI WITH CHILDREN:

Smt. MadhuGopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad.

Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use

to play with children and used to tell stories to

them? I felt children visiting Saidarbar should be

entertained with good stories. I have told you 24

stories during the year 2003. Baba told before He took

His MahaSamadhi that He is Muralidhar and would like

to play in Booty Wada (Samadhi Mandir) with His

devotees. So I will start Krishna Leelas with effect

from this first issue of New Year 2004. I Wish you all

A Happy New year 2004. Study well and learn good

manners. Tell your parents to read the Glory of Shirdi

Sai - Fortnightly E-magazine and narrate Krishna

Leelas from this magazine.

KRISHNA LEELA: Shri Krishna Avatar: Why Krishna Was

Born?

Our Scriptures say that when ever the forces of evil

prevail on earth, the Lord takes an avatar and is born

on earth in one of his several forms to defeat and

destroy them. The birth of Sri Krishna, who is

considered the avatar of Lord Vishnu, is one such

instance.

Before Sri Krishna was born the earth was ruled by the

evil demons who terrorized the saints and common

folks. Virtuous and moral life was coming to an end.

The demons were in their full form. When mother Earth

could not suffer anymore, she went to Lord Brahma, the

creator of this universe, in the form of a cow and

pleaded with him to take her to Lord Vishnu. Lord

Brahma sat in deep meditation. Soon Lord Vishnu

appeared before him and assured mother Earth. He said

that he was aware of her troubles and pain. He

promised her to take birth in the incarnation of

Krishna on earth soon as the son of Vasudev and

Devaki. This is why Krishna was born.

Ritualism Vs Faith

One often wonders why do some people adhere to rituals

stringently. Are rituals an essential part of

spiritual world? What is the purpose of rituals?

Milestones are set at every phase in life ? birth,

growth development, achievement of goals and it also

includes spirituality. In spiritual world there are

certain milestones that every Sadhak passes to attain

the supreme goal. Very few people are aware of these

milestones and knowing that life is short they hasten

to cross those milestones to attain objective. Rituals

and rites are essential and one must recognize that

they are stepping-stone to attain greater heights in

spirituality and not the final stage itself. Being

caught in mundane mechanical world, man is always in a

rush and gets stuck at rituals and does not progress

further. Those who think that by practicing rituals

they can attain moksha and are pious and good, have

bad news in store. In spiritual world things are not

so simple; praying or worshiping is not about

following a routine ? which most of us have

comfortably fallen into. We humans are so accustomed

to falling into comfort zones we do not like to strain

ourselves into any discomfort (does this remind about

physical instructor at the gym?). Even a good advice

about straining ourselves in this world to attain

faster results is frowned upon. Mere two or three

hours of reciting slokas and mantras and spiritual

readings, following age-old traditions without

actually understanding them or no practical

application of readings in our day to day life is

sheer waste of time and energies.

We read that Baba, did not like formal rituals and

worship, on the contrary we also read that He

encouraged habits or ritualistic patterns of worship

where Megha, or Nanasaheb Chandorkar were concerned.

The reason why rituals are encouraged is with the

thought that one-day man would understand the readings

and rise above the rituals and know that God is not

contained only in the four walls of the Mandir or in

an idol. But pervades the entire universe and one

should not think that prayers are restricted to

certain time, place or occasion. The purpose of

rituals is to train mind to think of god and one who

rises above rituals tunes this mind into thinking of

god at all times and places. A man who rises above the

formalities and rituals progresses further in

worshiping Nirgun, Nirakaar, god found in the 5

elements of the universe. Such a man realizes that

scope of God is far beyond our imagination and

analysis. Not all people attain this phase hence we

have two basic classes of people where spiritualism is

concerned - 1.enlightened ones; constitute 1% of this

universe, whilst 2.commoners constitute 99% in this

world.

Let us assume that God is an ordinary person like the

next door neighbour, with a name ?God? and works as a

travelling agent issuing tickets to people for

salvation, can you imagine what His plight would be to

steer 99% of people on this universe into the right

path? And we thought our life and work is miserable!

Most of us, commoners are focused on materialistic

goals and the main purpose to take up religious

practices is to fulfil the materialistic desires. We

are like little kids throwing tantrums at god and dig

our heels deep into the rituals just to fulfil our

desires and wants, and wail our hearts out when we

don?t get what we asked for in spite of our intense

prayers and materialistic sacrifices. The selfish,

self oriented and I-know-it-all arrogance and bad

attitude is the cause for unending pain and suffering

we inflict on ourselves. Superiority of a man does not

lie in spending 20 minutes more than his neighbour in

praying or using rituals to seek doom for the friend,

neighbour or relative.

Let us not tally our trips to Shirdi or temples and

number of days we fast and keep track of hours we

spend in front of God accusing Him for not listening

to our demands. We fail to acknowledge that failures

are for us to reflect and steer towards right path

after learning from mistakes.

family was pious and religious. Mr. Balaram served his

community, and wrote and published an account of it.

He then turned his attention to spiritual and

religious matters. He studied carefully (Bhagavad)

Gita, and its commentary Jnaneshwari and other

philosophical and metaphysical works. He was a devotee

of Vithoba of Pandharpur. He came in contact with Sai

Baba in 1912. Six months previous, his brothers

Babulji and Vamanarao came to Shirdi and took Baba's

darshan. They returned home, and mentioned their sweet

experiences to Balaram and other members. Then they

all decided to see Sai Baba. Before they came to

Shirdi, Baba declared openly "Today many of my Darbar

people (Devotees) are coming." The Dhurandhar brothers

were astonished to hear that remark of Baba from

others as they had not given any previous intimation

of their trip. All the other people prostrated

themselves before Baba, and sat talking with Him. Baba

said to them, "These are my Darbar people to whom I

referred before" and said to the Dhurandhar brothers,

"We are acquainted with each other for the last sixty

generations." All the brothers were meek and modest,

they stood with joined hands, staring at Baba's Feet.

All the Sattwic (attribute of balance and wisdom)

emotions such as tears, horripilation, choking etc.

moved them and they were all happy. Then they went to

their lodging, took their meals and after taking a

little rest came again to the Masjid. Balaram sat near

Baba, massaging His legs. Baba Who was smoking the

chillim pipe advanced it towards him and beckoned him

to smoke it. Balaram was not accustomed to smoking,

still he accepted the pipe, smoked it with great

difficulty and returned it reverentially with a bow.

This was the most auspicious moment for Balaram. He

was suffering from Asthma for six years. This smoke

completely cured him of the disease, which never

troubled him again. Some six years later on a

particular day, he got again an attack of Asthma. This

was precisely the time when Baba took His Mahasamadhi

(withdrawal from the body)

Shirdi Saibaba

A devotee named Hansraj goes to have darsan of Shirdi

Saibaba. "See, you have beaten me," says the Baba,

showing his own back. The devotee is shocked to see

the ghastly bruises on the back of his Lord. But he is

greatly puzzled as to how he could be accused of this

crime and is quite unnerved. Laughing, says Baba, "Why

do you think I am confined to this physical frame ?

Did you not beat your cat to your heart's content to

punish it for having drunk your milk? All the beating

you gave your cat was felt by me."
