In another book I found this other inormation:

The first incarnation of Lord Vishnu is that of Matsya,

the fish man.

 

Manu the ancestor of mankind, was ordered by a fish to build a boat

because there was to be a great flood. When the flood came, this

ark was pulled along by a large fish. There was a pair of every

living creature in the ark. The fish also saved the Vedas from the

hands of the demon Hayagriva. Matsya has four arms, and the attributes

of a wheel, conchs shell, club and lotus flower.
