Guest guest
Aum Sai Ram, (Source........Sri Lalita Sahasranama printed by Sri Ramakrishna Math) VI In the early Vedic literature we have no supreme Goddess any more than a supreme God . There were a number of Goddesses like Usas ,Ratri ,Vak ,Prithvi and Sarswati and a number of consorts of gods ,like Indrani ,Varunanai ,etc . But all of them occupy a very subordinate position .However before the end of the Vedic period we see signs of the emergence of a Supereme Goddess as well as Supereme God . Just as Vishnu arises in importance by assimilating to himself the traits of Indra ,Surya and Varuna ,so does the consorts of Rudra by assimilating to herself the traits of the other Goddess especially Vak.
