3. SAI'S NEWS FROM THE TIME MACHINE:

Ashwin/Vadya 13, 1910: Sai Baba pushed His arm in to the brightly

of massaging the arm with ghee and bandaging it continued till

Baba's Maha Samadhi

4. SAI PHILOSOPHY:

SAI PHILOSOPHY FROM THE DIARY OF SAI.BA.NI.SA.

These messages are the outcome and essence of the dream sequences of

Saibanisa as given by Lord Sainath, which reflect the Sai Philosophy

and his high thinking. They carry a sense of deep meaning and are

generally thought provoking, enough to set one's thinking process.

Translated and presented by RAGHU RAMAN SATULURY.

156) 28th May, 1994: You should be aware of the hunger of a person

lifting a bag full of rice meant for you and your family's

consumption. Do pay him liberally for the labour so that his family

too can have a square meal.

157) 11th June 1994: Do not run after for money, instead of granting

happiness may ultimately create lot of restlessness.

158) 12th June 1994: Do not enter into disputes and fights. Also do

not give scope for jealousy. If possible pardon your enemies or at

least keep away from them.

159) 24th June 1994: If you can afford to forget those who did

favour to you, there is no point in remembering those who fared

badly with you.

160) 21st July 1994: Difficulties are like dirt to our clothes, wash

and wear them again. Do not get disappointed when some thing bad

happens and do not get over joyous when good things happen to you.

5. SAI IN DREAMS:

SAIBANISA IN SAI UTSAV – 2000- Chicago – U.S.A

DISCOURSE BY SAIBANISA GOPALA RAO RAVADA - SAIDARBAR, HYDERABAD -

INDIA.

My Dear Sai Bandhus,

Today Sai has given me the responsibility to talk to you on the

subject of His involvement in dreams with his devotees. Shiridi Sai

was in flesh and blood like you and me till he attained MAHASAMADHI

in the year 1 9 1 8. Prior to and also after 19 1 8, he was

appearing in the dreams of his devotees and has always been the

guiding force from time to time to those who sought after him.

Volumes have been said about this great Saint by eminent scholars

about his ways and I for myself would like to dwell and limit only

to one aspect i.e. SAI IN DREAMS - A SCIENTIFICAPPROACH.

After delivering my talk, I welcome a question - answer session on

the topic if time permits. Let me start with the basics. Can any one

tell me what is a dream? It is the reflection of our life or a train

of thoughts in action pictured. You can as well participatively view

the dream contents while sleeping. The state of the mind is elevated

while one is dreaming.

What is Telepathy?

It is a communication channel from one mind to another some times

through dream media.

So Telepathy can also be a part of the dream. In a dream you can

predict and see the future events to take place where as in

Telepathy you can communicate with your own people. In dream you can

look in to the future as well as the past with out your conscious

knowledge.

The classic examples of the future events as per our Mythology and

Epics are.

1.King Dasarath gets a pre-notion of Lord Sree Rama being sent to

the forests in exile.

2.Queen Mandodhari able to see the downfall of her husband king

Ravan.

3.Mayadevi had a dream in which she sees a white elephant entering

her womb leading to the birth of Buddha.

Examples of the past events: Bharath could foresee the passing away

of his father King Dasarath.

2.Dasguna Maha Raj could see in his dream Baba attaining Mahasamadhi.

Telepathy is a channel of communication between two individuals and

a group of persons. It can be said to be similar to the carbon copy

facility in our modem e-mail systems. Relevant to the context is the

comparison to the incident where in

1.Booty and Shyama simultaneously had a dream in which Baba advises

them to construct BOOTY WADA.

2.Draupadhi in utter despair prayed Lord, Krishna to save her honor

when all other means and requests have failed in the court of

Kauravas while being disrobed. Draupadhi receives an endless flow of

cloth to cover herself is an excellent example of Tele-

transportation.

3.Lord Sainath saved the child of blacksmith from falling down in to

the fire by putting across his hand in the fire at a remote

location. It is a combination of Telepathy and Tele - Transportation

in action. Best demonstrated.

4. Lord Sainath sent two mango fruits through Tele -transportation

technique as gifts to the great AULIA Shamshuddin in Aurangabad and

requested him to send Abdul for his services.

5.Baba appeared in the dream of Megha and direct him to draw an

image of Trishul and worship Lord Shiva. He blessed Megha by

dropping AKSHITHAS (HOLY RICE) on his bed. This will fall under the

category of Tele-transportation.

6.'I'he battle of MAHA BHARAT was viewed, by SANJAY, the minister

and a live coverage was given to KING DRUTHA RASTRA. Similarly

sitting in Dwarakamai Baba announced the arrival of the Dhurandhara

Brothers.

7. SPIRITUAL GEMS FROM SAI SATCHARITRA:

"Venkateswaraswamy Swarna": swamysv

Sai Ram. We saw how Baba cured the illness of Bhimaji Patil. Now let

us see how He helped many other devotees, who took refuge at His

feet. "Another devotee of Baba by name Bala Ganapat Shimpi, suffered

much from a malignant type of Malaria. He tried all sorts of

medicines and decoctions, but in vain. The fever did not abate a jot

and so he ran to Shirdi and fell on Baba's Feet." Sai Ram.

The `malignant' (which means bad, dangerous) fever did him a great

favor after all, since it brought him to Sai's feet. In fact, all

troubles are our real friends since they hammer down the Teli's wall

of our ego and help us reestablish our divine connection, that we

are not our body, mind or ego, that we share the same divine soul as

Sai. "Baba gave him a strange recipe, in this case as follows: -

"Give a black dog some morsels of rice mixed with curds in front of

the Laxmi temple". Bala Shimpi did not know, how to execute this

recipe; but no sooner he went home, then he found rice and curds.

After mixing them together, he brought the mixture near the Laxmi

temple, when he found there a black dog wagging it's tail. He placed

the curds and rice before the dog. The dog ate it and, strange to

say, Bala got rid of his Malaria."

Sai Ram. Bala Shimpi may not know (because of his sense of

separation that limits his perception) whether he had rice and curd

at his house, whether there was a black dog at the temple of Goddess

Laxmi etc., but Baba knew. There was a rinanubandha (connection of a

karmic debt) between the black dog and Bala Shimpi. So, Baba, helped

Bala pay his karmic debts and freed him. The fever left, once the

karma was finished. All that was of course known to Baba who was

omniscient and many such instances can be seen in

Satcharitra. "Shriman Bapusaheb Booty suffered, once from dysentery

and vomiting. Baba then sent for him and made him sit before Him and

said, "Now take care, you should not purge any more" and waving His

index finger "The vomiting must also stop". Now look at the force of

Baba's words. Both the maladies took to their heels (disappeared)

and Booty felt well."

Sai Ram. Though the words were apparently addressed to Bapusaheb

Booty, they were in fact addressed to the disease within. The

external utterance was in fact Baba's Leela for the benefit of His

ignorant children like us. He was one with all minds and could have

easily achieved the same result without uttering a single word. "On

another occasion he had an attack of Cholera, and suffered from

severe thirst. Dr. Pillai tried all sorts of remedies but could give

him no relief. Then he went to Baba and consulted Him as what to

drink that would allay his thirst and cure the disease. Baba

prescribed an infusion of almonds, walnuts, pistachio (a kind of dry

fruit), boiled in sugared milk. This would be considered, as a fatal

aggravation of the disease by any other doctor or physician, but in

implicit obedience to Baba's order, the infusion was administered

and strange to say, the disease was cured."

Sai Ram. Faith in Baba is the real medicine. Faith brings down the

power of the Almighty, to whom nothing is impossible. Thus Baba gave

such seemingly illogical directions, testing whether the devotees

have the needed faith to obey such directions. Those who were

fortunate, those whose demerits have been burnt in the fire of

devotion, obeyed the directions implicitly. A small child has

implicit faith in the wisdom of its parents. It doesn't think of

questioning them but simply depends on their wisdom for its

survival. Baba was God in human form and thus those who were

fortunate enough to depend upon him, who were wise enough to

surrender to His feet benefited not only in their mundane worldly

affairs like health and wealth but more importantly took important

steps in their return journey home, the reunion of their spirit with

Sai. The demolition of the Teli's wall had indeed begun, thanks to

Sai's grace. Unlike physically young children, we have been given

buddhi, intellect to guide us, to help us break out of the cocoon

built by our egos so that we can become butterflies and fly freely

in the spiritual sky. Sai Ram.

We will continue with the other stories of Baba's grace in the next

issues. Sai Ram.

8.QUINTESSENCE OF SRI SAIBABA'S PHILOSOPHY:

(By Late Sri Bharam UmamaheswaraRao)

"Shashi": shashi_31

13. Spiritual Evaluation Through Sri Sai Baba's Sayings

>From Baba's Gospels we have to understand that He is the bonded

slave of His devotees. He loves devotion. He advises His devotees to

have Shraddha and Saburi. The term NISTHA is derived from the verbal

root of `sastras' and denotes final position.

>From Baba's sayings, we must know that there are innumerable Saints

in this world, but our father Guru is the Father and He is only the

real Guru. Others might say many good things, but we should never

forget our Guru's words. So we must learn that we should love our

Guru wholeheartedly, surrender to Him completely and prostrate

ourselves before Him reverentially, and then we will see that there

is no sea of the mundane existence before us to cross as there is no

darkness before us.

By Baba's Gospels, we must know that Bhakthi marga is easier than

Jnana Marga. Baba says `Jnana marga is like a Ramphal, Bhakthi marga

is like Sitaphal, easy to deal with and very sweet. The pulp of

Ramphal is inside and difficult to get at. Ramphal ripens on the

tree and should be plucked only after its ripe. If it falls down, it

will be spoiled. So from Jnana if one falls, one will be ruined'.

Thus, for the ordinary run of majority of men, seeking to tread

spiritual path, Baba unhesitatingly advised Bhakthi Marga, because

various forms of this discipline are available to suit the varying

mental attitudes and there is no fall for any one in this path. But,

Jnana Marga is only for persons of pure caliber, who can go on

treading this path, without any slip or fall, which would be of very

serious consequence for those walking on the razor's edge of Jnana.

9. DEVOTEES EXPERIENCES:

Sri Sai's Mysterious Help

My husband is the captain of a merchant vessel. On 29/06/2003 he was

in Paramaribo, Suriname. His ship was loading cargo bound for

another country. As usual, during his journeys, he would frequently

dial me in. One morning when he phoned me, his voice was suppressed

and he seemed very upset. Whatever the cause, my husband was not his

normal self. I could not contain my curiosity and anxiety and asked

him the reason. He then revealed to me that while refueling bunker

(Oil), a substantial quantity of it spilled over on to the deck of

the ship and a good amount dropped down on the water.

International Marine Laws provide for the strictest penalties for

sea and ocean pollution and may include even rigorous imprisonment

for those found guilty of the crime. As captain of the errant

vessel, my husband was naturally very nervous. His condition at that

moment seemed similar to the captain of the U.S. Oil Super-

tanker "Exxon Valdez" which ran aground at Bligh Reef in Prince

William Sound (South East Alaska) on 24/3/1989 and spilled 260,000

barrels of Crude oil into the surrounding waters.

My Husband immediately informed the respective agents, the PIN

Surveyor and the Paramaribo Port Authorities. He was fearing the

worst could take place. He meanwhile managed to collect some of the

oil on the deck into a barrel. In times of distress, our soul refuge

is none other than our beloved Shri Samarth Sainath. I told my

husband to pin his faith on Shri Sai. Pray to Him fervently and keep

His portrait beside his side always and cast all his burdens on Him.

I told him clearly Baba would never let down His devotees. The

following morning was a Sunday and a pleasant surprise awaited my

husband. There was no official inspection of the ship, the oil

spilled or even for that matter any inquiry. It was a quiet Sunday

and though Sundays are off days for all official work at the port,

oil pollution is exception and spot inspections are carried out if

an incident is reported. But nothing happened strangely. A further

surprise also was in store. When the tests of the water was carried

out, there was not a drop of oil in it, which confirmed that the

surrounding waters were as fresh as ever. Where did the oil

disappear? My husband has no answers, but he knows that Sri Sai has

and after this incident, his faith in Baba has been strengthened.

10. SAI WITH CHILDREN:

http://www.saidarbar.org/HTML/portraits/7.jpg

Smt. Madhu Gopal Ravada, Saidarbar, Hyderabad.

Hello Children! I am Madhu aunty. Do you know Baba use to play with

children and used to tell stories to them? I felt children visiting

Saidarbar should be entertained with good stories. Baba told before

He took His Maha Samadhi that He is Muralidhar and would like to

play in Booty Wada (Samadhi Mandir) with His devotees. So far you

have enjoyed Krishna Leelas. Baba has also established his identity

with Lord Sri Rama. Now I will take you through our epic Ramayan.

Tell your parents to read the Glory of Shirdi Sai – Bi-weekly E-

magazine and narrate Ramayan from this magazine.

SITA SWAYAMVARA:

Soon they reached Mithila where they were received by King Janaka

with due respect and courtesy. Vishvamitra and the princes were

taken to the royal guesthouse. Kings from far and near, from all

corners of the earth, had come to participate in the Swayamvara.

Among them was Ravana, the mighty king of demons and a great devotee

of Lord Shiva. As Ravana was a great devotee of Lord Shiva and had

won several boons from the Lord, he was confident that he would win

the contest. When the Swayamvara started with a repetition of King

Janaka's vow " Who ever strings Lord Shiva's bow, will marry my

princess Sita', it was further added that one day Sita had very

easily picked up Lord Shiva's bow. All the kings and warriors tried

their luck. But alas! What to say of stringing the bow, no one could

even lift the bow. One by one many kings, princes and warriors

failed to pick up the bow. Even the mighty demon king Ravana could

not lift Lord Shiva's bow and left the Swayamvara hall disappointed

and ashamedly. Despondent and tired participants sat silently.

Radiant and hopeful atmosphere turned into silent and sorrowful one.

Seeing all this a wave of sadness and dejection ran in King Janaka.

Janaka lamented, "Had I known that the earth was bereft of brave

men, I would not have taken such a vow. Now my daughter will remain

unmarried because of my vow."

It was then that Vishvamitra said to Rama, "Rama! All have tried and

failed, now, go prove your worth by stringing Lord Shiva's bow.

Having received permission, Rama rose, bowed to the sage and walked

towards the divine bow. People were mocking at Rama's courage and

looked at him suspiciously and thought that would he do what all of

the renowned warriors and kings failed to do. A hushed silence

reigned in the swayamvara hall. Every one's attention was

continuously at Rama who had reached the bow. To the suspicious

people's astonishment, Rama lifted the bow without any effort and

strung it. He then pulled the string. The bow snapped into two, and

with a loud noise it fell on the ground.

A wave of joy ran all though the hall. Every one's face lit up, even

the suspecting ones acclaimed Rama at his success. Janaka's face

shone with happiness at the fulfillment of his vow. Sita came and

flung the bridal garland round Rama's neck, which was followed by a

shower of flowers from everywhere.

But the festivities did not last long. Soon it was marred by the

sudden appearance of the axe- wielding short- tempered sage

Parasuram. Parasuram was a great devotee of Lord Shiva. When he knew

of the breaking of the divine bow, which belonged to Lord Shiva,

became furious. The enraged sage created a lot of hue and cry. There

was a lengthy and heated argument between him and Lakshmana. But

Rama tried his best to pacify him. At last, the sage Parasuram said

to Rama, " Take my bow and string it." He held out his to bow to

Rama who with perfect ease held it, strung it and pulled the string.

Seeing this Parasuram recognized that true identity of Rama as the

reincarnation of Lord Vishnu and went away blessing heartily to

every one. There after the disturbed festivities returned to its

normal course. Arrangements for the marriage of Rama and Sita

started, and by quickest means information of this great event was

sent to King Dasharatha as his consent and attendance sought.

Dasharatha, accompanied by the queens, the other three princes,

ministers, courtiers and nobleman, reached Mithila shortly. The

whole of Mithila was decorated which turned it festive and gay.

Along with Rama's marriage with Sita, the other three brothers were

also married. Lakshmana was married to Urmila, the younger daughter

of King Janaka, and Bharata and Shatrughna to Mandavi and

shritakirti the daughters of King Janaka's brother, Kushadhwaja.

SRI SAI PADANANDA RADHAKRISHNA SWAMIJI (15.04.1906 TO 14.01.1980)

Universal Prayer:

May the wicked turn good; May the good attain peace; May the

peaceful be freed from all bondage and May the liberated redeem

others.

May everybody be happy; May everybody be free from disease; May

everybody have good luck; May none fall on evil days.

May everybody surmount difficulties; May everybody have good

fortune; May everybody realize his ambitions; May everybody rejoice

everywhere.

The author of the above universal prayer is Parama Pujyaneeya

Radhakrishnan Swamiji about whose contribution to the propagation of

Sai Bhakti is discussed below from known facts, as it is very

difficult to understand real "RADHAKRISHNAN" unless one lives as he

lived. Inspite of his nearness to Almighty Sainath he behaved and

moved like a Sai devotee\pracharak. His immeasurable spiritual

wealth made him more humble and simple. His life is a book for a

Sadhaka to understand real spiritualism. Though he was born with a

silver spoon in his mouth on 15th April 1906 in Poyyamani village of

Tamil Nadu, destiny made him to lead simplest of simple worldly

life. In one of his talks to devotees on 14-06-1971 Swamiji gave a

general clarification thus "Baba deprives one of everything in order

to put on to test. I have seen that Baba subjects one to trials and

tribulations with a view to strengthen one's faith. For instance, I

was leading a comfortable life at Ooty. Then my contact with H H

Narasimha Swamiji brought me to Madras. Swamiji gave me a plank of

wood to sleep on and I had to sleep on that plank without having a

pillow using one of my hands. God will enter us only when we

maintain equanimity of mind whether it is Sukha or Dukha".

Though he was a born saint he had darshan and blessings of great

souls like Narayana Maharaj of Khedgaon, Sri Ramana Maharshi and

Seshadri Swamigal of Thiruvannamalai, Sri Sivananda of Hrishikesh.

His destined guru, philosopher and guide H H Narasimha Swamiji met

in the year 1942 at Ooty. In the very first meeting Sri Swamiji

asked Radhakrishnan to do pooja to a picture of Sai Baba though he

was dressed in a suit. Let us all note Sri Marasimha Swamiji's

reply. "It doesn' t matter at all. Baba never looks at the external

details; What He wants is the minds". While sending Swamiji to

Madras he asked why he got the name of Radhakrishnan. This question

prompted Swamiji to invite him to Madras for a suitable reply.

During his stay in Madras he vowed not to eat until the Lord

revealed Himself to him to show the significance of Radhakrishnan.

He had a vision of Radhakrishnan. On another occasion, Sai Baba

revealed himself as Rama and Maruthi. These instances made him

closely associate with H H Narasimha Swamiji in Sai Prachar

throughout India. He was deputed to do Sai Prachar work in Karnataka

by his Guru Narasimha Swamiji. As he finds Ananda(Joy) at the lotus

feet of Sai, Sri Swamiji conferred the title "Sai Padananda" on him.

He continued the Sai service in a more vigorous way after Nirvana of

his Guru in 19.10.1956.

Sri Sai Narayan Vani

To abandon all love of worldly pleasures & immerse one's mind

completely in the love of God, can be the consummation only of great

Punya. Whatever be the form of God, only mind that has freed itself

from worldly attachments or entanglements, can be filled with Divine

Love. Believe firmly in the existence of God-believe that He is-

believe that He is the Father & Mother of the Universe, who

preserves everything-then, it does not matter in what form you

worship Him, on what pedestal, or in what world you place Him; then

there is no doubt, the Omniscient One, immanent in everything &

everywhere, will bestow His grace upon you. When seeker, filled

with longing to see the Master, cries out as if heart would break, "

My Lord, My Lord, Oh Paramatma, when shall I behold Thy lovely form

with these eyes of mine" on the seeker, whom has tasted the Divine

Sweetness of the intense Love, can understand it. Pursue steadily,

see God & thus fulfill the purpose of this invaluable human birth.

Those who possess such love of God, love solitary places, sit in the

corner of lonely chamber where everything reminds of God & hate any

destruction which disturbs the concentration or contemplation of

merging and can easily go into samadhi, which is the culmination of

Bhakti & Dhyana. But for the Karma Yogi, who is trying to perform

his duties as acts of devotion, without any desire for reward, can

bathe devoutly, gain God's grace, blessings and bounties and thereby

destroy sins & acquire mental purity. He can reinforce his faith in

his Lord by observing the glory of the Lord, which manifests itself

everywhere in this Divine land and go on singing His praise and

glory by performing positive deeds for the benefit of humanity at

large.
