lives of yogis is their breath control yoga excercises. So when this piece of

information is added to the meditation information - it open a new facet of

controlling the mind and elongating your life span by making the mind monitor

the breathing frequency. Sai Ram ~ Be Happy JP LOVE ALL

achieve which you will have no problem. If you want that lung power to

increase - 1. Monitor your breathing frequency at all times and make effort to

slow that down. 2. To increase lung power - do Paranyama as Swami suggests in

Dhyana vahini. Pull in breath to the fullest in 5 seconds and exhale in 5

seconds. Increase this inhale exhale time gradually. As you progress you may

hold your breath for half the inhale / exhale time after inhaling. It is

important that you focus on Swami while doing this - this will help you in

meditation. Sai Ram ~ Be Happy JP ~~~~~~~~~~ mithun k m

Om Sri Sai Ram.

I wish to appreciate and thank bro Jatindar Shad for the wonderful piece of info

provided to the group. May Swamy Bless him and all of you and guide you all in

your meditation attempts.

One small correction what mithun has said below.

It is NOT "1 or 2 times breathing in 1 minute"... what it might mean is , try to

reduce BY 1 or 2 times in 1 minute.....say in 1 minute you normally breath 12

cycles ( both inhale & exhale )... in meditation SLOWLY try to reduce this cyle

to 11 or 10 in 1 minute... Please note that care should be taken NOT to strain

the body resulting in unwanted results... Devotees are requested NOT to follow

any bookish exercise in such practices.. utmost devotion and surrender to Swamy

pleading for guidance will take them gradually in the path. ( I also learnt from

some eminant yoga teachers, that in the breathing cycle, holding of breath

inside - after inhale - is NOT ADVISABLE - for normal householders)

Jai Sai Ram.

you mean to say 1 or 2 times in 1 minute...so we have to take breath only twice in 1 minute....
