Guest guest
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba's Ten Directives for Students to Discipline the Mind 1. The first is the purity of the place where you live. Room should be clean, free from anything impure. You must only place pictures or objects that can fill you with peace and pure thoughts. Those that create in your mind bad thoughts should have no place. Where you live and study must have a satwic atmosphere. 2. You must strive to create a harmonious atmosphere in your family. Disagreements or tensions are unsuitable for living or studying. 3. Avoid tamasic and rajasic food. Do no eat food that is excessively sour or spicy. Avoid non-vegetarian food. Satwic and vegetarian food is best suited for a good and godly life. 4. Never consume alcoholic drinks. The fluid you consume must be pure and satwic. 5. You should make an effort to cultivate good feelings and thoughts to keep out wrong ones. 6. If you want to develop pure thoughts, then it is necessary to look at only the sights that are fit for that. You must look at every elderly woman as your mother and those who are younger than you, as sisters. 7. Be very selective in the books you read. Avoid books that create wrong feelings in you. Read those that can help you develop purity in your life. If any improper books are prescribed for studies treat then as only textbooks and not as guides for life. 8. Be selective of the service activities you undertake. Choose only those that can help you cultivate purity and give you joy. The service you carry out should also make others who receive your service happy. Look upon every person whom you do your service as an embodiment of Divine. 9. You should practice sadhana (spiritual disciplines regularly), only then can you maintain a pure mind. Sadhana should help you develop pure and selfless love for one and all and to see the Divine in everyone and everything. 10. You should choose the right profession that suits you. It is the nation or the community that helps you earn your livelihood. Continuously look for opportunities to be of benefit to the community. Always be fair, just, truthful and righteous while discharging your duties.
