An obscure village 30 years ago, Puttaparthi, the headquarters of Sathya Saibaba, now drew visitors from all over the globe. Ajit Prakash Shah, Chief Justice of Madras High Court, said Sri Saibaba's initiative had brought clean drinking water to Bellary in Karnataka and Kurnool, Cudappah and Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, which for centuries had suffered drought. He said the Trust's water project was the largest undertaken anywhere in the world.
