Guest guest
Sairam, I'm extremely happy - its a REAL PLEASURE, for all your nice, and, great thoughts/suggestions on the topic - "ATTACHMENT." Here, what can i conclude, from my understandings: One should develop both - ATTACHMENT, aswell as DETACHMENT. ATTACHMENT towards ones DUTIES, and, RESPONSIBILITIES. DETACHMENT towards their returns (outcome of the DUTIES, that are performed by us, and, with our EXPECTATIONS). We are SUFFERING - because, we're MORE ATTACHED with the RESULTS, compared to our DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES, that we perform. Once we start developing LESS-ATTACHMENT, with the RESULTS, we may start developing, DETACHMENT, later, with the RESULTS. (DONT MISTAKE THIS - ATTACHMENT on some activity, and, DETACHMENT, on its outcome. Both ATTACHMENT, and, DETACHMENT, NOT, on the same thing.) 'COMPLETE DETACHMENT' also too good - its the ULTIMATE solution, for all sufferings - you'll become YOGI/SANYASIN. 'COMPLETE DETACHMENT' may be the preferred solution, if you can come out of all your DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, and, ATTACHMENTS (and, EXPECTATIONS). If one is binded with these, he/she should never look for 'COMPLETE DETACHMENT.', as, practically, its not feasible. A mother, should have ATTACHMENT, with her kids. At the same time, she should develop DETACHMENT, not to expect same love/affection/help-at-old-age etc. from her kids. But, practically, if there's ATTACHMENT, there are (there must be) EXPECTATIONS (expecting something, in return). Say, for example... If you are more attached/focused with your work, and, If you are performing too good, in the office, i dont know, how can i be DETACHED (without expecting something, in return, for my services - i may feel/expect atleast equal priorities/preferences with others - but, dont you think, though, if you are over 100 times good at work, to someone else, and, if that the other guy was promoted, given much preference/priorities - how one can stop comparing themselves, with others?? - May be, it might be the result of your karma (some sort of 'bad deeds' in the present/previous births.) - So, though, you're more competitive/eligible, you're not given much preference/priority.) THESE ARE REALLY TOUGH TASKS, to put into PRACTICE, i think. BUT, ONE SHOULD LEARN/PRACTISE THEM (ATLEAST TO SOME EXTENT), TO GET RID OF SUFFERINGS.
