Guest guest
order to be able to worship Santoshi Mata?? This information will help me to understand why she keeps saying that because of Santoshi Mata Day she can not do this or that, or take this or that. As I said before I personally am not a follower or devotee of Santoshi Mata, but I would like to know or should I better say I would like to learn about all this. I would really appreciate it if you could clear this doubt of mine. Thank You in advance for all the information and answers that I hope you can give me. In the Service of our Beloved Swami, Vidya. Guest guest
dvs prasad <dvs_prasad2001 Wed Nov 30, 2005 11:24pm Can Anyone Please Clear Up This Doubt of Mine? dear sister vidya, there looks to be some confusion in your letter. the word diaries & dairies appearing in your letter. however, i strongly feel it should be diaries [a book to write the engagements] now, i shall answer: normally whether it is ekadasi or not most of the hindus especially brahmin commuinity people do not wish to have or touch the articles made out of leather since, no one knows whether it is a product of cow or not. most of the old orthodox temples do not allow the persons having leather products with them ex: leather belts, purses etc., this is a traditional manner only. but, of late leather products have become most indispensible. however, some of the orthodox people still have the same feelings. this has nothting to do with Sri Sri Santhoshima Vratham. with reference to dairies, some of the old [aged persons] even do not take milk or milk products on that particular day earmarked for Sri Sri Santhoshima. they absolutely live with water if necessary. with reference to the above Vratham, i have personally observed several people who eat only fruits but without the taste of sour [ex: lime, imli etc.,] but honestly, i have never come across in any book. hence, no argument on this. hope, your doubt are clarified. with best regds dvs prasad ---------- Ramu gsv <gsv_ramu Wed Nov 30, 2005 11:32pm Re: [saibabanews] Can Anyone Please Clear Up This Doubt of Mine? Sairam: It is really foolish of people to stretch things too far in the name of devotion. God expects just PURE HEART. A sincere word of prayer said from your heart even for a minute is worth hours and hours of elaborate pooja. Some people give more importance to rituals and superstitions keeping Bhakthi behind. Your friend's case falls in this category. Anyway do not critisize her nor anyone on their beliefs. Just laugh away within yourself. God does not expect these things and these are man or may be woman- made. ---------- girija menon <gijjumenon Thu Dec 1, 2005 0:23am Re: [saibabanews] Can Anyone Please Clear Up This Doubt of Mine? "All Forms are Mine, and All prayers come to Me"....... The Lord is One........Forms are many. Dear sister, We must firmly believe that The Lord lives in every heart.People may vary in their faiths, customs, traditions or even superstitions. But that shouldnt alter or shake your faith in our Lord.Any prayers done to Santoshi Mata,Durga Mata,Sai Mata or Ambal,Muniyandi, shiva, Vishnu....you name them......all go to Him and Him alone. People act differently according to their previous vasanas, according to the family tradition you are born into or their present up bringing. There are no strict rules where Devotion is concerned.Love is One. How you can make the difference is, let them learn from the way you conduct yourself.Sai is Love and His Love is the same to everyone. Let them keep their rituals and restrictions till they evolve out of it. It is only a matter of time dear sister, before these people learn that. Monday to Sunday, it doesnt make any difference which day you pray to Him,what time you call Him or where you are. But we follow certain days or timings to keep ourselves disciplined by following the rules.that is till we come to a stage [ may not even be this life time ] where every moment we can dedicate to Him. Then little differences like the ones you mentioned may not bother us at all..... Try to ignore but give Sai Love at all times...... Let Our Lord's Grace be with you at all times..... Let Sai Mother give you the strength and courage..... With much Love, JAI SAI RAM Girija. [ I truly pray that I would have made some sense somewhere along this passage...] ---------- "Hema Daby" <hema Thu Dec 1, 2005 3:05am RE: [saibabanews] Can Anyone Please Clear Up This Doubt of Mine? Dear Vidya I can very well understand your feeling on that matter. Do you know the story of the four blind men who wanted to know how an elephant looked like? When they did come across one; one fellow grabbed its trunk, one its leg, one its tusk and one its tail. They all went back home very happily, satisfied of their little discovery& In fact none of them knew for sure what an elephant looks like because they had only touched a part of the whole!! In the path of devotion as well, each person has his or her own perception of god. We are too limited in our mind to be able to judge whats right or wrong. On Fridays may be the lady you mentioned, must be fasting for Santoshi Ma, its her way of showing respect. But on the other hand you must have felt a bit offended as she did not accept parsad after Babas satsang. See, both of you are praying in your own particular way! The beauty of the situation is that the LORD being merciful will equally accept the prayer from both of you. So my dear Vidya bless the person and let her be. As for the diary, a devotee of Baba should know that using leather goods is indirectly promoting killing of innocent animals. One accumulates a lot of bad karma by doing that. Ekadashi or not, the use of leather should be avoided. I hope the little that I shared with you just now will be of some help. Dear Vidya ji,in the beginning a devotee must strictly follow the rules, regulation & other retuals as prescribed for performimg some specific Puja (worship) of any god or deity. When a person or devotee reaches to stage of sadhana where he feels & realises everything being done by the will of Lord, then i suppose these restrictions have no meaning. You have to check youself & decide on whom you have faith. If you are devotee of Sai Baba, then need not to be disturbed with these little things as you just narrated here.Concentrate on your bhakti towards loving Sai Baba with full dedication, you will then feel self- contended. These are my personal views.
