Guest guest
Puttaparthi turns into global village Anantapur, Nov. 22: Puttaparthi turned into a Global village on Tuesday as several lakhs of devotees from all over the World gathered there to take part in Sri Satya Sai Baba’s 80th birthday celebrations. Deviating from the regular practice of celebrating the day in the confines of Sai Kulwanth Hall, the Baba has decided to celebrate his birthday amidst his devotees at the Hill View Stadium on Wednesday. The Baba will reach the stadium exactly at 7 am in a specially decorated rath. The devotees of the Baba and students of his educational institutions will line-up along the route to welcome him. The Baba will ride a specially made Japanese vehicle to be visible to all the devotees along the route. His divine discourse would be made from a high pedestal erected at the Hill View Stadium. Baba to announce boons Anantapur, Nov. 22: The State government is eagerly awaiting Sri Satya Sai Baba’s divine discourse that was expected to be delivered at around 7 am on Wednesday at Puttaparthi’s Hill View stadium. It has been a tradition with the Baba to announce some boon or the other to the public as his birthday gift. This time around he is expected to announce a drinking water scheme for East and West Godavari districts, a project expected to cost around Rs 150 crore. According to sources Chief Minister Y.S. Raja-sekhar Reddy has already made an appeal to the Baba to extend financial assistance for the Handri-Neeva project works in Anantapur district and the works related to the irrigation projects in Kadapa district. The eyes of those in the government are thus riveted on the Baba as he was expected to make an announcement on the government’s proposals. Strangely enough the Baba has made no secret of his aversion for politicians. In his discourse made on the occasion of International Women’s Day on Nove-mber 20, the Baba castigated politicians. He had singled out the Finance Minister for his ridicule. “People who do not know what is meant by finance have become Ministers for Fi-nance,” the Baba said. It was felt that the Baba’s remark was against the State government which depended on him to finance its irrigation projects.
