Gratitude is the most fundamental of virtues. It is said that the sun

withdraws its light from the eyes of the ungrateful. Someone without the sense

of gratitude can be said to be a blind person. One should always be grateful to

one’s benefactors, wherever they may be. One should show gratitude even without

concern for one’s own life. God is helping humanity in so many ways, but people

do not show any gratitude to Him. They are all the time engaged in selfish

pursuits.
