Guest guest
Dear Candles, chanting the Gayatri Mantra worldwide - what a wonderful idea, which will materialize. This and the prayer sessions is urgently needed, because we are living in the 'Kali Yuga', which shows us it's face with so many different facets just now in so many different ways. By being involved with our worldly duties, we might forget, that we are living in this yuga. However bad this yuga might strike us, we should also remember that we are blessed to live in it, because it its the yuga in which one can reach God by merely chanting His name. This is what Swami says. Please let us all keep this advise in or heart and grap this opportunity. 'Angelic Passage', please 'go and do' set a date for the chanting and if you need help in any way, please let me know. I would like to share also an incident, which happened to me back in 1995 in Prashanti Nilayam: It was the 'Global Unity' festival, a musical festival in Prashanti Nilayam. I was participating in my country's program as singer. While our Sai Ma had provided for all participants in a way which does not let me find the proper words, but fills my eyes with tears every time I think about it, I was sitting and resting in a tent, where refreshments were offered by Swami's students. While a was sipping my tea, a gentleman came in to sit two chairs next to me and the Seva Dal offered him on a tray sweet cookies. He was hesitant, reached for a cookie, withdrew his hand, was undecided, but finally took one. I was much older than he was and was reminded of my grandchildren. With a smile I ask him: "Did the child within you finally take the cookie?" He laughted and we exchanged a few words, otherwise keeping silence. When he left the tent after a few minutes, he handed me a small envelop with vibuthi, lovingly decorated with a filigran lotus blossom and said:" Please pray for.......(he named a country). There are dark clouds of negativ energy over this country, which can only be removed by extensive prayer. This is what Swami said." He also told me, that this small envelope was decorated by devotees of this country. I still keep this envolope visible on my prayer table, to remind me. Now, ten years later, the above described incident came back to me and as we all can see, that what the gentleman ask to do in private, is now done by the Prayer Group and also becoming true by the worldwide chanting of the Gayatri Mantra (which I pray will be continued to be done on a frequent basis just like the singing on Sivarathri has become a regular practivce in this group). This will surely replace bad energy with pure energy. We are partaking in Swami Mission to 'make this world a better place'. Just like in the story Sister Madhvi shared with us (about the glasses which went to China), we can see, that Swami uses each one of us as His instrument to perform different tasks as workers in His mission. Each one of us has been given a different task and the place Swami puts us, is the place, where we have to perform our duty. Work is worship, whatever work we are doing, be it at home or at a working place. If we perform our work as worship to God, it will bring us a content life. I am speaking from experience. This is a gift Swami blessed us with. Uuuuuuuups........this mail is getting too long. I don't want to sound like a teacher, but there is a saying in my country: When the heart is full, the mouth gets flooded (I hope I translated correctly ?). So....... back to the real subject. For the benefit of all I attach a collection of quotes from Swami's discourses giving advise for the conducting of Akhanda Bhajans in particular and the significance of chanting and praying in general. These quotes were lovingly put to together by someone in this forum (at least I think ) some time ago. It would be most helpful now, if we replace the word bhajan, with the term 'chanting of the Gayatri Mantra' while reading the quotes. We are all lit candles. We all together can make a difference by letting our little lights shine. My sisterly love goes out to all of you. May Swami shower you with His divine love and grace in plenty............always. May Swami bless all our doing and we ask Him to make us worthy instruments.
