Shirdi Ka Sai Baba, Maharashtra’s greatest saint, has never put down any of his

teachings in writing, as he was interested in awakening the people through

Bhakti and Shraddha. His countless devotees, from India and all over the world,

look upon him as their guru, saint, saviour, an incarnation of the super power

who manifested himself to human form to redeem mankind from destruction. How

much do we, his devotees, know about the favourite Baba we all believe in?Dr.

Ramanad Sagar, the ‘Pitama’ of mythological serials like Ramayan, Sri Krishna,

Jai Ganga Maiya, Jai Mahalakshmi on Indian television, has taken the daunting

task of telling the story of the great saint Shirdi Ka Sai Baba as a mission.

In his new serial Sai Baba, coming on Star Plus, from October 9, at 8.00

p.m.The new series on Sai Baba is being done with the active involvement of Sai

Baba Sansthan, at Shirdi. Put together after extensive research and eye-witness

accounts-narrated by men and women who lived during his times, the series tells

the story of the son of a Brahmin, who was given away to a fakir at the age of

5. It is believed that approximately 11 years Sai Baba was seen under a neem

tree at Shirdi. He was soon recognised as the young son of the Brahmin who was

given away to the fakir as a young child.Shot in a specially recreated sets in

the Sagar Studios at Baroda, after four painstaking years of research, the set

represents the small and simple town of Shirdi, the home of Baba between 1849

and 1918.
