Professor Ramamurthy spoke for approximately 30 minutes on his experiences with

Swami and then Sri Sanjay Mahalingam spoke articulately and inspired us all as

per usual. He spoke about many topics, especially how to celebrate the

Navaratri festival. He said that, for the first three days, we should worship

Mother Durga and pray to Her to remove vices such as lust, greed and anger. For

the next three days we should worship Mother Laxmi and pray to Her for the

spiritual wealth of Viveka (discrimination). The last three days should be

spent worshiping Mother Saraswati for Jnana (knowledge). The Divine Discourse

commenced at 5:35pm. Swami stressed the importance of undertaking different

types of sadhana to purify the heart. Swami declared that purity of the heart

would result in the vision of God. Swami said that once you have faith/belief,

like the Gopikas, to see God in all living beings, you will be granted the

physical presence

of God. Swami also spoke about non-dualism – seeing everything as one. Swami

encouraged us all to foster the spirit of oneness – “All are One, be alike to

everyone”. Swami sat down and sang the bhajan “Govinda Krishna Jai Gopala

Krishna Jai”.To everyone’s surprise, Swami continued talking to everyone

present, in an informal manner, just like a mother would talk to her children.

Swami said that even though He has many programmes, He is always happy. Swami

continued to express His happiness to everyone’s delight and signalled for

prasadam to be distributed. Swami waited for the prasadam distribution to be

completed on the sisters’ side before retiring to the Divine Abode at 7:00pm.

Sai Kingdom (UK) Grama Seva Group 2005 – 10th OctoberMorning Darshan:Today is

Durga Ashtami, the 8th day of Navarati. This day is marked as very special

during the Navarati festival. This was obvious in Sai Kulwant Hall as the

atmosphere was charged. There was music playing and Vedam chanting as Swami

arrived in His car a few minutes before the commencement of Rahu Kalam, at

7:28am. On this auspicious day, Swami

carried out the Vahan (Vehicle) Puja. The Golden Chariot together with Swami’s

cars were parked on the east side of Sai Kulwant Hall. Swami carried out the

puja from His own car immediately after the usual darshan. The students were

singing bhajans while Vedam was being chanted. Swami sent instructions to begin

the Grama Seva after 9:00am, after Rahu Kalam had finished. Today, a village

called Vengalamma charuva was to receive Swami’s blessings in the form of

prasadam. The

village is situated 10 km from Puttaparthi, populated with more than 1,000

houses. The UK Group was allocated certain parts of the village, which took

over three hours to complete. The UK Group was heading back when, en route,

they were asked

to help at another village. This was a privilege blessed upon them by Swami, as

this village was the birthplace of Mother Easwaramma. The village is called

KarnatakaNagaPalli. The village is very close to Puttarparthy and hosts about

400 houses. The distribution was carried out very quickly and the teams headed

back to Prasanthi Nilayam.
