listening to the bhajans and at 9:45am He signalled for Aarti. After taking

Aarti, Swami headed back to the Divine abode in His Toyota Porte car.Afternoon

Darshan:Swami came out from His residence at 3:00pm to give Darshan and did a

complete round, including the brothers’ side. Swami then sat on the Portico for

a while speaking to a number of people, including Sri Poppat, before going into

the interview room. After Swami came back, He sat on the portico for a while

and then called the former vice-chancellor, Sri S.V. Giri, to make an

announcement regarding Grama Seva. Sri Giri conveyed Swami’s message, that

Grama Seva is a very big task which will be undertaken this year solely by

Swami’s current Students and selected faculty members of the Sri Sathya Sai

Institue of Higher Learning. After Sri Giri’s talk, Swami entered the Mandir for

bhajans. As bhajans started, Swami headed for the Divine

abode. However, to the surprise of all in Sai Kulwant hall, Swami’s car was

seen coming back from the Divine abode. Swami stayed for a while and after

taking the Aarti, returned once again to His residence. The Group was fortunate

to receive the Grama Seva t-shirts and caps during the day. Sai Kingdom (UK)

Grama Seva Group 2005 – 4th OctoberMorning Darshan:On the morning of 4th

October 2005, Swami gave darshan to one and all. Immediately after darshan,

Swami sent message for the commencement of the Grama Seva programme. The Veda

chanting group recited Vedam and Swami’s students sang bhajans while circling

the Mandir as Bhagawan Baba sat on the portico, watching and blessing. The UK

Grama Seva Group was privileged to follow behind the Veda group in doing

“pradakshina” around Swami and the Mandir. Swami signalled for His Students to

continue forward and do His work in the

villages.Transport for the Students consisted of 36 trucks which were also

loaded with supplies. The UK Group was immensely fortunate that Swami Himself

had allocated 3 Tata Sumo vehicles to the Group. As the vehicles left the

Prashanti gates, all participants shouted “Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba ki

Jai!”Sarees, dhotis and food (consisting of Pulihora Rice and Ladoo) were to be

distributed to every village in the districts of Puttaparthi, Bukkapatnam and

Kotachervu over the next seven days. The village the Group was sent to today in

order to receive Swami’s blessing and prasadam was called Pedaballi, located

some 25km from Puttarparthi. The population of the village is approximately

8,000.Swami’s message and love can be seen to be reaching out to the world, as

the villagers were awaiting with broad smiles for the arrival of the Grama Seva

students. The villagers had washed the front of their houses and

painted rangoli to welcome Swami’s students. The Grama seva began with bhajans

sung whilst walking through the main streets of the village (Nagar Sankeertan)

to sancitfiy and purify the environment with God’s name. The Service was

conducted with true Sai Spirit by adhering to the maxim “Service to Man is

Service to God.” This was carried out from 9am o’clock till 12 o’clock. As per

Swami’s command, conveyed by Sri. S.V Giri, all the food was distributed

promptly before lunch time.
