Guest guest
Sai Ram dear brothers and sisters in Sai Love Today i have received this below stroy from my brother. it is quite interesting. I would like to share with you all and if any one likes to send your feedback about the story please do it. Sai Ram maheswari Here is a story from the epic Maha Bharata – which, perhaps, you may not have heard . Write back your reactions on this story. Rama Rao After the Maha Bharata war was over and Yudhishtira (Dharmaja or Dharma Raja) was crowned as the king, Bhishma Acharya was still alive and lying down on his bed of arrows in the Kuru Kshetra. At that time, Dharmaja was lead to the Bhishma Acharya by the lord Sri Krishna. After all the initial mutual inquiries, payment of respects etc.. , Bhishma asked a question to Yudhishtira. “ Look Dharmaja, listen carefully to my query. Normally, when people encounter difficulties in their lives, they usually attribute them to their own actions or deeds (*/karmas/*) in their previous birth. Some of them attribute to the lack of support from the God (or lack of */Daivaanugraham/*). Thirdly, some people also attribute it to the insufficient or inadequate effort from the person concerned. Some times all of them or any two of them may happen together. Now, let us examine whatever has happened to your own lives. You people have encountered a number of difficulties so far in your life. Due to what reasons ? We cannot attribute to the misdeeds of the past births, because you are all born out of the grace of the gods (*/Daivansha sambhutulu/*) . There is no chance for you to be bound by your past deeds. Can we say your difficulties are due to your incapabilities? Saying that would be utterly wrong; because, you have conquered your enemies with your ability; you have great weapons of the war which are obtained by great penance & concentration (*/tapas/*) and were handed down to you by the gods themselves. You have been continuously vigilant and always attended to your duties. In spite of your capability, you had to face these difficulties. Can we assume that the god or luck is against you ? No, that can’t be. Because the living god Sri Krishna has always been with you, he guided you, he worked for you. He did everything for you. So there is no dearth of God's grace for you. This being the situation, how can you, Dharmaja, explain all your sufferings ? Mother Kunti was also present in the war field where Bhishma was lying. She thought ‘ My father in law Bhishma is asking a tougher question than those asked by the Yaksha near the pond’. Dharmaja spoke with all his humility, “dear grand father ! you have asked a question that is necessary. I shall speak to you about that reason (for our difficulties) and answer to your query which I felt (with your kind blessings) has guided me through out my life. I have never viewed this human life as a ‘replay’ or 'playback' of the story written on our foreheads. I also cannot attribute to the three reasons you have just now mentioned. It does not mean that I do not care for these three reasons. Human life should proceed over and above the bonds of past deeds. No effort should be spared for overcoming the difficulties. And also the benevolence of the God is essential; without which we cannot achieve much. Various incidents happen in our lives. Not as a result of the past Karmas. Not to indicate the lack of God’s benevolence. These happenings are necessary for our lives. They are needed for the benefit of the entire world and mankind. They form part of the drama being played, and we have our role to be played. I take, whatever good or bad that happens to me, as the script for that great drama, which is being played for the benefit of the life on this planet. I learnt to look at it his way, by observing my mother Kunti. I felt this in her touch, in her love to us and in all whatever she does for us. I am ever so grateful to her for teaching me this view of life. Many time I see my mother in Lord Sri Krishna. And I see Lord Krishna and also the Guru Veda Vyasa in my mother. ” Kunti felt that she did achieve her life’s goal. With all her humility, she bowed to her father in law Bhishma. Bhishma was quite moved. He embraced Dharmaja very happily.
