Plans grand fete for Baba's birthday

"Anantapur: The state government has decided to conduct the 80th

birthday celebrations of Sri Satya Sai Baba on a grand scale at

Puttaparthi this November.

A cabinet sub-committee – comprising ministers K Rosaiah, J Geetha

Reddy, N Raghuveera Reddy, J C Diwakar Reddy and special invitee home

minister K Jana Reddy – held a review meeting with officials here on

Sunday. The committee directed the officials to initiate steps for

smooth conduct of celebrations keeping in view the arrival of

Ministers review arrangements for Saibaba birthday

PUTTAPARTHI: The Cabinet sub-committee on the 80th birthday celebrations of

Satya Saibaba met here on Sunday to review the arrangements for the occasion

scheduled in the second fortnight of November.

 

The Ministers, K. Rosaiah, K. Jana Reddy, J. Geeta Reddy, J.C. Diwakar Reddy and

N. Raghuveera Reddy, participated in the meeting attended by the district

officials of all departments. The sub-committee chairman, K. Rosaiah, said that

though the Government was not hosting the celebrations it was its responsibility

to provide proper facilities to the dignitaries and visitors from different

parts of the world.

 

It was decided in the meeting to deploy about 3,000 police personnel for the

event. About 300 APSRTC buses would be run to Puttaparthi from different parts

of the State during the fete and 20 teams of doctors would be formed for the

occasion.

 

The district administration was directed to complete arrangements like formation

or widening of roads, and repairing sanitation system by October 31. The

Ministers called on Saibaba twice. Saibaba also presented a gold ring to Mr.

Diwakar Reddy.
