Sairam

++++

Dear Reader,

Loving Sairam from the H2H Team.

Listen what Mother Sai has to tell you today...

Sai Inspires - 25th September 2005

Bring me the depths of your minds. No matter how grotesque, no matter how

ravaged by doubts or disappointments, I will not reject you. I am your mother.

- Life Is A Challenge, P 59.

Loving Sai Ram and greetings from Prashanti Nilayam. We hope you had time to

browse through the small note we attached last Sunday to our regular feature

Sai Inspires, and that you liked it. Some of you have most kindly written back

to us to say so, and we feel gratified. This encourages us to be with you once

more this weekend.

We would first of all like to inform you that our feature Sai Inspires, which,

goes out to over 3,500 rs scattered all across the globe every single

day, completes one hundred days on 26th Sep 2005 (Monday). When we started, we

had just a handful of rs and we thought if the number reaches 500, it

would be terrific. But Swami has shown that we have no idea of how people are

hungering for Him. It has been both a delightful and a humbling experience to

see so many people responding with immense joy to His Love.

Many devotees visiting Prashanti Nilayam drop in at our Studio, and talking to

them, we find that there is considerable lack of awareness about the spectrum

of our activities. While some are familiar with Radio Sai they do not know

anything about our Web journal ‘Heart 2 Heart’. With many others,

it is the other way about. There are some who confuse our daily bulletin

‘Sai Inspires’ with Heart to Heart! We think it is time to give you

a quick overview of what we do, and that is shown in the schematic below.

Heart2Heart is our monthly web journal carrying Baba's message of Love and

Peace. You can visit this at www.radiosai.org

Our Audio and Video products include the festivals and events of Prashanthi

Nilayam, devotional music/bhajans and videos on Swami's life and mission.

You can watch our videosonline at www.saicast.org.

Radiosai Global Garmony is a digital radio channel carrying Baba's message 24

hrs a day, 7 days a week. You can see our program schedule in your local time

and also listen to the radio on the internet at www.radiosai.org.

We also generate videoprograms on Baba forTV Channels like SanskarTV and Jagran TV.

"Sai Inspires" is ourdaily inspirational emailservice to our rs.

As you can see, we are basically engaged in spreading Swami’s Message

through different means, all electronic.

This raises the question: What is Swami’s main Message? Different people

would of course answer this in different ways, but we would like to bring to

your notice something that Swami used to often tell the boys a couple of years

ago. What follows is not a verbatim quote but the gist of what Bhagavan told

His students. He essentially said: “When you are sick and go to a doctor,

he does two things after examining you. First, he prescribes Aushadam or

medicines that you must take, and next he prescribes Pathyam or diet

restrictions. For all of you the medicine I prescribe is Namasmaranam or

chanting of the Name of the Lord. As for Pathyam, it is selfless

service.”

So that is what the Divine Doctor wants all “spiritually sick”

patients to do! Swami has touched upon the virtues of Namasmaranam in many of

His Discourses, but we would like to narrate briefly a small incident that

highlights its supreme importance.

Once many years ago, Swami paid a brief visit to Hyderabad. On that occasion, a

devotee went to Sivam [swami’s official residence in Hyderabad – it

is like Dharmakshetra in Bombay and Sundaram in Madras] very early in the

morning. He had access and went up to Swami’s chambers. He found there a

few priests chanting the Rudram, a portion of the Vedas where Lord Siva is

extolled. Rudram is often chanted while doing Abhiskhekam to the Lingam. Some

also chant it while having their bath; the idea is that the Siva is inside and

when one pours water over the body, it is equivalent to doing Abhishekam to

Siva. Anyway, here was Swami having His bath and it seemed appropriate to these

priest to chant the Rudram at that time.

The devotee who entered the room saw the priests chanting and felt a pang of

regret. He said to himself, “If only I knew the Rudram, I could have

joined these priests.” A few minutes later, Swami entered the room and

most causally asked the chief priest, late Kamavadhani [who spent decades with

Swami and breathed his last here in Parashanti Nilayam], “Kamavadhani, is

there anything greater than the Vedas?” Considering that Kamavadhani was a

master of the Vedas, one would have expected him to reply NO. But you know what

he said? He said with surprise, “Swami, in this Kali Age, is there

anything better than chanting Your Name?” Swami just smiled and left,

leaving the devotee who wished he knew the Vedas with a message. Yes, for all

of us, it is enough if we chant the Name; that is equally if not more powerful

than all the Vedas put together!

Thank you for spending some time with us and till we get back next week, may all be well with you.
