ARIVATTAYA NAYANAR font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">The Chola kingdom where the river "Comic Sans MS";font-style:normal">Kaveri flows, was a village called "Comic Sans MS";font-style:normal">Kana Mangalam. Thayanar, leading a married life with the goal of it to stand by the moral values, doing the profession of feeding the world by ploughing the earth - agriculture, was as rich as his broad mind. Even if one was able to measure his material wealth, he had immeasurable wealth of service to the holy feet of Lord Shiva. There is a saying whixh states "Mango will feed the food that even mother failed to feed". His love for the Lord must be more than that of the mother. His discipline was to offer the Lord everyday the best rice food along with fresh spinach and the budding mango (Mavadu). 10.0pt;font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">The great Lord wanted to bring His loving devotee’s love and service under the limelight. He changed his status from rich to poor. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue"> But how could he lose his wealth? He continued to have the wealth of worship and service even in the absence of what others consider the wealth. He started doing the farm work for others, from the rice grains he gets as the pay for his work; he used to make the best food for the Formless. He would eat and feed others of his family with the rice grains that are low in quality. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">The Loving Lord who loves to test His devotees brought more troubles. With the fields going dry, due to natural calamities, he couldn't get work to continue his service font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue">. His determination was much more than that to be subdued. With his wife’s acceptance he sold the jewels, house, furniture and vessels as deposits to get loan. They used that money to continue the worship without any break. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">One day according to his routine, he carried in a basket the rice that is as pure as his love and the tasty spinach and mango buds for his loving Lord. His wife of chaste heart and service followed him with the five holy materials that cow gives. They gave all food to the Lord who had no hunger at all, but they starved. Due to the fatigue she fell down while walking spilling the materials on the ground and so was he. He felt very bad not for his state but about the inability to do his duty as he has spilt the food of his loving Lord. He felt miserable for not being blessed with offering the food for the Lord. He took his dagger, started cutting his neck. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">At that very moment, the Merciful Lord held the hands of His loving devotee and the mango-bud started shouting, "please leave, leave". font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue"> "Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">When the hands of the Almighty that blesses all the creatures in the universe touched his neck, the wound due to the dagger cut was cured and so was his font-weight:bold">karma "Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">cured. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">With the folded hands and devotion of multiple fold he praised the Lord who appeared on the holy Bull with Shakti. b giver of boons appreciated their love and took both of them to reside with Him eternally. (As he attempted to cut his neck due to the feeling that he couldn't do the service he undertook for the Lord, he got the name “Arivattayar”.) font-family:TSC_Nattai"> 10.0pt;font-family:Arial"> 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">Sai Ram 10.0pt;font-family:Arial"> 10.0pt;font-family:Arial">Shivathmika 10.0pt;font-family:Arial"> 10.0pt;font-family:Arial"> Attachment: (image/jpeg) image001.jpg [not stored]
