Guest guest
Om Sai Ram, friends: Can anyone kindly point me to procedures or any puja steps that are to be done for Ganesh Visarjan? Also I would like to know if the Visarjan should be done 10 days after Ganesh Chaturthi (i.e. on the 15 or 16th of September)? Is there a specific date and time for the Visarjan? Many thanks! Blessings, Alexandra
Guest guest
two times(morning and evening) pooja and naivedya and arathi should be offerred alongwith water visarjan can be done any day other than ashtame, navami , friday, saturday, and tuesdays. even u can do today evening. before visarjan, the puja - archana , naivedyam - arathi should be offered and we should say, "yadhaa sthaanam prathishtayami" - meaning, we are sending to his place and move the idol to north side, a little. after this the idol can be lifted and taken for immersion. for archana/puja, u can chant the 12 names of ganesa - om sumukhaya namaha, om ekadanthaya namaha.... sairamreikiacademy <reikiacademy (AT) earthlink (DOT) net> wrote: Om Sai Ram, friends:Can anyone kindly point me to procedures or any puja steps that are to be done for Ganesh Visarjan? ..... Guest guest
I was a part of the Ganesh Chaturthi celeberatrions in Prathi in 2003. Till then I was of the opinion that the festival is 7 days or more long. Also till then I was of the opinion that attending the beginning (first day of the) celebration of the festival was good enough. So my plan was to be in Parthi on Ganesh Chatrurthi day and return next day. But Swami willed it otherwise. I had the auspiscous darshan of Baba on Ganesh Chaturthi. And after lunch I fell sick - dehydration. I was not able to digest a morsel of food. Going back that day or next day was just impossible. Even in the third day I was just OK. In the afternoon there was Ganesh Procession via the mandir for immersion. Swami cracked many coconuts. After the proccession and line up the statues were sent for immersion. Swamis discourse in the evening. Swami says - without attending the third day puja Ganesh Chaturthi puja is not complete. He said this to remove my doubt. To keep me in Parthi he gave me dehydration to keep me there till the third day. Swami also said that more then three days celebrations is being done at some places for commercial reasons. Now this year - we installed our Ganesh Statue in our prayer room. Tomorrow after the third day evening puja the Ganesh statue will be moved to its usual place at our flat enterance. I have no doubt about this. So, what brother Shastry is saying is one thing and what I am saying is what I experienced personally.
