NAYANAR (NAMBIYARURAR) - Part V

color:blue">

font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">Worshiping the Lord of

Thiruvarur he again started on his pilgrimage saluting the Lord at various

places

font-style:normal">and went towards Kurukavur.

He was tired with thirst and hunger.

"Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">The Compassionate who is more

loving than a mother came as an old Vedic chanter and waited on the way making

a water shelter. He received Arurar with the greeting "Shivayanamah”

and offered him and the accompanying devotees rice ball and cool water. After

enjoying the rice and water that was given by the Lord Himself out of tiredness

they slept for a while. Meanwhile the Lord disappeared along with the water

shelter.

bold"> When Arurar got up he realized that it was the Supreme who has come to

serve them. With overwhelming love and gratitude he sang many hymns as the

outpourings of his love to the Lord of Kurukavur.

font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">Arurar continued his

journey to many more abodes and reached Thirukkachchur.

Worshiping the Lord in love in that abode he came out with the hunger.

font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">The Compassionate

Lord came in the disguise as a kind hearted peasant to cure His sincere

devotees fatigue of hunger. With a bowl He said to Arurar that He would go

and beg for food and bring it for him. The Lord who went begging to

remove the ignorance of the Rishis of Tharukavanam went begging in a play to remove the

hunger of the devotee who does not get tired of singing Him. He brought the

food to Arurar who shared it with the devotees who came along with him.

font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold"> When they found the

old man missing, Arurar was realising the Grace of the Lord that is beyond the

limits of praise sang and saluted in all humbleness to the Merciful. After

saluating other holy abodes as well he returned to his home at Thiruvarur

amidst the praise and welcome of the devotees of the town.

bold;font-style:normal">Aninthithaiyar

font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold;font-style:italic">

font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">was the other lady who

served the Goddess Shakthi but got attracted to Chudharar in Kailayam. With the

Lord Shiva’s blessings she was was born to Thirunyayiru

Kilavar and

worked in the fields as a girl by name of Changiliyar.

font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue"> Quite

attractive in beauty and impressive in character she got attachment to the

Goddess and God. When the parents

tried to look for a groom for their daughter, she refused saying she wanted to

serve the Lord at Thiruvorriyur. They were shocked. When somebody sent the

proposal to marry her bad things happened. The relatives who got scared left

her as she wanted in the Thiruvorriyur temple to serve the Lord. She in the

monastery for virgins served the Lord by making garlands and other floral

tributes to the Divine Parents' Graceful Feet.

font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">One day when Arurar

came out from the temple, he accidentally saw the Changiliyar who removed the

curtain of her virgin monastery like a lightning for a short time to give the

garlands she had made for the Lord. Her destiny determined at Kailayam by the

Lord Shiva, pushed her chaste mind to loose it on Arurar. Same happened to

Arurar all as part of the Divine play.

color:blue">

bold">The Lord went on behalf of him to Changiliyar asking that girl who

completely involved only in His service to marry the sweet servant saint

Sundharar. Changiliyar on the assurance of getting a pledge from Arurar that he

would not leave her and go anywhere, agreed to that. The Lord conveyed her

agreement and the condition to Arurar. But, Arurar wanted to serve the Lord by

singing at His many holy abodes didn’t want to stay permanently in

Thiruvorriyur. So he made a secret pact with the Lord to stay under the Makizam

tree when he comes with Changiliyar to make the pledge (instead of the altar).

The Lord said yes. The Lord went to great Changiliyar who was fully surrendered

to Him, indicated Arurar’s intention and cautioned her to ask for the

pledge in the shade of the Makilam tree instead of altar. The chaste girl

thanked the Lord and agreed.

color:purple;font-weight:bold">The next morning when Arurar came to her to

execute the pledge and marry her, Changiliyar conveyed through her friends to

make the pledge under the Makilam tree. Though Chundharar was shocked, he

didn’t have any other option, so made the pledge under the tree where the

Lord had come as per the assurance!

color:blue"> Changiliyar though happy for the

pledge felt sad for making Arurar to go against his wish, but she did that on

the order of the Lord. They saluted the Lord and left. The same night the Lord

indicated to the devotees of the town to arrange the marriage of the two. The

wedding went on as per His grace. Thampiran Thozar was enveloped in the warmth

of love of Changiliyar for a long time worshiping the Lord of Thiruvorriyur.
