Sister Tanja,

Namasmarana is actually two words “nama” and “smarana.”

“Nama” means name and “smarana” means continuous

remembrance or chanting. Chant any divine name that appeals to you with intense

feeling. If you feel comfortable, chant sathya sai baba or sai ram, jesus,

whatever divine name appeals you. To realize the full benefit of naamsmarana,

chant the name you select continuously, even while working, playing, etc. If

you want to read more, here’s a link to an article that focuses on

naamsmarana:

May Swami bless you with your naam sadhana.

Namasmarana is nothing but chanting of god's name or nama. you can chant this

OM SRI SATHYA SAI BABAYA NAMAHA or else " OM SAI SRI SAI JAYA JAYA SAI" . any

name you can chant with sincere He will definitely reply to you. all names are

His names.

You can chose any name of the lord you feel one with and keep chanting it all

the time...first verbally and then mentally....finally internalize the chant so

that it becomes one with your breath it will make you feel beautiful

Namasmarana means repiting the name of god or remembrance of name of god.

The Lord has thousands of Names. There is no Name that is not His. Krishna,

Shrinivasa, Sai Baba- all Names are of the same Entity.

You can chant om sri sairam, om namaha shivaya, sairam, sri sathya saibaba,

om sri sai jaya sai jaya jaya sai etc.The choice is yours.

But its better to add om before the mantra. It should be much effective.

In this Kali Yuga one can attain moksha or liberation from bondage of mortal and

miserable existence by singing the Name of the Lord. In fact, Namasmarana is the

only solution to life's problems in this age. In the Krita Yuga, it was Dhyana;

in the Treta Yuga, it was Yajna; in the Dwapara Yuga, it was Archana or

worship. In this Kali Yuga, due to the predominance of Rajasic activity in Man,

it is not possible to engage oneself in Dhyana, Yajna and Worship. So

Namasmarana is declared the best means to cross the ocean of delusion. Other

Sadhanas like Dhyana, Yajna and Worship would be fruitful in this age only when

the Divine Name and its Sweetness of Love also merge in them."

Please read all these messages u will understand everything about namasmarana.

Sai Ram, Tanja!

Namasmarana has not to be like any kind of audio-record:-). The

Divine Name pulses constantly within you - firstly in mind, then it

goes deeper - in blood and at least - in the heart. Namasmarana

could bring you wonderful results - with Bhagavan's Grace you could

be able to have even His Darshan! It is true. This practice make

koshas (bodies) of human being pure and it brings incomparable

Ananda.

Try! It works really! ;-).

PS If you will feel that doing this practice your mind bothers you -

ask your mind any question like "Who am I? What is you, mind? What

is a purpose of my life?" The mind became to be quite. But if these

questions not help...Just pray Swami - our Divine Teacher.

PPS If you are a Christian: The Eastern Othodox tradion has the same

practice. There is one prayer (like mantra) "Gospodi Iisuse Christe

pomiluy mya" (about "Oh, Lord Jesus Christ, be graceful to me") wich

has to be sounded in the heart of a person who repeats it

constantly. I suppose you can find any book about this practice in

any church in your town. Just to read. This practice came from the

East long long ages ago.

Dear Tanja,

Pl note that Nama Smarana is a way of engaging your mind, which left

unattended may wander here and there. What else the best way of

fixing your mind than to fix it on the name and form of a GOD which

you love most.

Pl note it Namasmarana is not like a mantra which has some conditions

like no of words and the way of pronounciation. Namasmarana has only

one condition and it is that the name should repeated with Love and as

an offering to the lotus feet of a particular form. Baba has said

that if this is followed with Bhakti, God will manifest that

particular form to the Bhakta.

Most follow the name ' OM SAI RAM' while remembering the form of

Swami with his Orange robe and black hair , with his hand raised in

blessings.
