Appeals and requests for help - New section in the group

I receive sometimes appeals of different kinds from members and readers. They

are often messages saturated with suffering or dealing with urgent matters.

They are not specifically requests for prayers, but calls for urgent help in

different fields: medical, financial, etc.

 

Anyone may face trials and tribulations in the life. These appeals cannot be ignored.

 

In order to help these brothers and sisters in need, a special section in the

group has been created in which the appeals will be published to make them

available for the consideration of the members. A note will be sent to the

group when an appeal is added to the list.

Although will be only published the deserving requests, since it is impossible

to verify and investigate every message received, each member, listening to his

own conscience, will decide in every case what is the right thing to do.

After reading brother kumudu ratnayake's email, i felt so bad because i was also

a student facing the ordeals of student life not so long ago here in the US. But

now by Swami's grace i have an excellent job here in CA. I think we all shud do

something for people asking for monetary help. We can start some type of a

fund to which willing members contribute every month, say $10. I am sure there

will be many well to do devotees here in the US or any other foreign country

who will be willing to contribute on a monthly basis. There will be different

levels of members like Platinum, Gold and Silver members depending on the

amount of contribution. We can then appoint a committee to manage those funds

and lend money to deserving persons anywhere in the world using our strong

network of sai devotees in every corner of the world.

Swami says that to progress spiritually, u shud first have a strong and healthy

body and a stable, peaceful mind. Today 50% of the problems of mankind have

their roots in the lack of money. We will be doing a great service to mankind

by giving them food to eat and a stable and peaceful mind which will help them

to progress spiritually.

ur idea is welcoming. the fact here is how to organize the funds &

how to assess the need is also the another question. b'cause, there

may be some fraud people in disguise. the good idea may turn in to a

sleepless night. think before act twice or thrice.

any help regarding health and education, sai human values and

matters

which deal with understanding how to address and be with the atma in

practical terms may be addressed to yours sincerely....i have over

30

years in this field and know of skills and techniques in pranic

healing

spiritual healing, chakral balance and how to govern and address the

various ethereal levels in relation to your gunas...music, dance and

the recitation of slokas have also got a direct connection and are

in

fact very effective methods of making the governance easy and

permanent

Sairam ,

This is the wiser thing to publish a separate group for the appeal

and request. We are in the materialistic world some brother and

sister are some time in need of some help other than the prayer.

As swami himself says first bhojan than bhajan. empty stomach one

cannot think of GOD. we are not talking about the luxeries but

some minimum living is required for every sai family. If we will

come forward little bit than only we can say we are sai family.

We annot sserve every one atleast we can think to serve from our

own resources to some one. This we have to decide how one sai

brother can help to other.Hope swami will guide us in this also.

I am back from Puttaparti and we had wonderful time and darsan of Bhagawan. He

is withdrawing from the crowds. I totlly concur that we have a world that is

controlled by materialism and consumerism. We are not an organization thta is

for collecting funds but yet we need money fro spontanoeus seva commitments

when the need arises.

Swami is going to guide through the inherent love in the heart of his devotee.

What comes to my mind is, rising to the occassion when a small child who is

poor needs a heart surgery and it can be sponsored at Puttaparti or at

Bangalore facilities and so much can be donated by the Global Prayer group as a

united service. It can be a poor person requiring Eye suregery and can be

sponsored. It can eb Anti malarials and mosquito nets for teh third world

countries and it can be sponsored.

I shyed away from recommending this in the previous e- mail on my suggestions on the

Social Welfare and Medical activities of the Global Prayer Group.

I want you all to think about it. We have a secular Non Profit Organizarion,

that is dedicated for Health, Education and Social Welfare. It is The Society

For Assistance International and it's web site is www.saicdp.org.

Bhagawan blessed this Organizarion in 1998 and called it as an organization

whose work automatically becomes the work of SAI. We have a branch in

Puttaparti also. People do contribute through this organization for various

causes and all the money, 100 % goes to charitable causes. It is a 501C-3 non

profit and we send receipts. We do not have large administrative red tape as

all the officers are volunteers for the charitable causes.

I do the work of Educare under the banner of SAI Educare Programs. I am ready

to train manypeople to do the SAI Educare PArenting Courses, Lesson Plan

Development and Child Care tips on Behavioral management. Please visit the web

Anywhere in USA I can give this course and I can give CEU to the participants.

Swami gave me this as a very indepenndent Seva opportunity and Bhagawan has

The last point in the Nine-Point Code of Conduct states:

9. Practicing placing a ceiling on desires "consciously and

continuously striving to eliminate the tendency to waste time, money,

food, and energy" and utilizing the savings for service of mankind.

 

To help people in need who appeal to us is a duty, not charity. It is

an excellent suggestion by Arvind that we try to do what we can

monetarily to help people in their hour of need. Of course, we will

need to come up with a well-planned way for members to contribute

from various corners of the world. Maybe we can consider services

like PayPal (http://www.paypal.com/)? just a suggestion. We will have

to discuss the ramifications of any method in more depth before we

adopt anything. I personally would be grateful for an opportunity to

contribute whatever little I can.

one in the poor people is referred to as "Dharidhra Naaraayana". When

this Naaraayana begs for food, you refuse to give him food while you

but we must take care that ego problem will not rise between us and be in a

constant thinking that it is our swami's work. meanwhile the aid will not be

limited to US itself but to be extended countries like India, Srilanka and

wherever be, there is a craving for money for a genuine cause.

Yes, i think brother prasad is right in stating that there will be many fraud

people trying to take advantage of us. But this should not hinder our goal to

help deserving people. By people i mean the general masses. Irrespective of

whether a person is a Sai devotee or not, we shud help them. It is our dharma.

Now about the fraud problem. There are solutions to every problem This can be one of them.

First of all we need a list of Sai devotees, their names, addresses, and misc

information. Here is how this idea works. For example, if someone in New Jersey

needs help, then we find some devotees residing in New Jersey from the list we

have(they shud voluntarily sign up for this service), and then tell them to go

to the house of the person needing help and meet him/her personally. They shud

follow some guidelines to verify the authenticity of the persons appeal, and

then shud inform the central fund members. Then the money in the form of a

check/draft can be sent to the person.

This is just one of the solution. Do u guys have any ideas ? We shud be ready to

do anything to make this idea a success.(I am sorry for the 'We'. 'We' am not

doing, but Swami is doing through us)

Just imagine, if this idea becomes a success , then people will truly know who

is Swami and his mission, through his devotees(i.e us). I think this will help

us in our Sadhana also. First of all this will remove our attachment to 'our'

money which is actually God's gift. Second, it will give us a chance to show

our love to all people irrespective of caste, creed, etc. Thirdly, it will

encourage other people to contribute and become voluntary seva members in this

mission of Sai.

How about starting a website with these ideas ?

Fraud can be prevented with good and credible organizations. that is why we

stopped taking telephone appeals but have taken all our charitable work through

SAI. We can form an internationsl THE SAI GLOBAL PRAYER GROUP TRUST AND pick

some CA's and LAwyers from the group to oversee the designated distribution of

funds in Health, Education and Social Welfare. If Million people on line decide

to donate 10 dollars each fro teh cause every year, the Global SAI Prayer group

can do a lot of service. If the same million people across the globe contribute

120 dollars per year a lot more can be accomplished globally, like the

Maharaashtra seva dal 's work, Globally.

With most humble pranaams to Swami and with the due respect and

reverence for the reason of his AVATAARHOOD, I offered myself at the

Lotus Feet Openly.

THE S.A.I. can establish with the same non profit status a SAI

GLOBAL PRAYER TRUST, that will create a Board with a couple of

Lawyers, Educators, Doctors and Chartered Accountants.

Again with Love for Bhagawan's existence in the human form and with

reverence for his teachings, through Unity, Love and focus on taking

Swami's teachings into life apllication scenarios, this offering was

made.

We can take Swami's teachings into Public Schools, by creating Door

Prizes for listening to parenting education based on the principles

of Swami's teachings.

We can do medical seva through the Public schools, globally, so that

Swami can be felt though our giving, help, medicines and service.

We can help the ctaract surgery to heart surgery or medicines for

the villagers in India or other Third World Countries. Through the

Mother Eswaraamma Trust Project we can help support the cause to

build self help among battered and destitute women. We can go

globally do screening for HIV ( rampant in India by the way ) and

raise the morality of the people through Bhagawan's teachings. We

can do a lot of seva when people come together with same focus,

trust and ris eto the appeals of the neddy people. In all of these

endeavors, we know many volunteers are working and we can establish

a net work in each country or state or city, through SSO.

We can supplemnt the efforts of various samithis across the globe

to enhance their basic service projects.

If 10 million people contribute a dollar each per month a lot can

be accomplished. At the same token, if 1 million people give 10

dollars imagine what can be done!!!!

This is why Bhagwan says that " Bharat has no Poverty".

I want to make it very clear that there are many people who are

running Non profit organizations in their local areas or samithis.

But I volunteered with the confidence that Bhagwan had blessed SAI

as the Organization, whose work will automatically become SAI's

work. This is not a plea to collect funds.

We can all openly brain storm and make this zeal of giving become a

reality in Helath, Education and Social Welfare. I wonder why Swami

is inspiring all of us. I have complete faith and with 100%

surrender that Swami is inspiring all of us.

Sairam.

 

While I applaud these love filled thoughts from eager brothers &

sisters, please let us think this through carefully. While it may be

easy to appoint CAs & Lawyers to manage this Trust, more important

is that we identify the 'needs' properly and ensure that the money

is going to the 'Right' causes.

 

This is NOT comparable to the Sevadals work in Maharashtra as

responding to the emergency following a natural devastating tragedy

in Mumbai is quite different to what we plan to do here in this

group.

 

Also we need to ensure that this is fully in line with the SSSSO

Prashanti & International protocol.

Sairam all,

I think Sister Meenakshi's idea is an excellent one and we shud all

seriously consider starting the Sai Global prayer group trust. We

can launch a website with the ideas. But first we need a list of

people from this group who can help in setting this up. We will also

need some details like level of education, profession, current home

address, etc. We need to push this idea and make it a success.
