Guest guest Posted July 22, 2005 Report Share Posted July 22, 2005 Sai Ram "The Hindu," 22 July, 2005 Andhra Pradesh - Others Satya Saibaba's guru pournami gift to Krishna district by Staff Reporter PUTTAPARTHI: Satya Saibaba on Thursday announced that the Satya Sai Central Trust would take up a drinking water project soon for the benefit of people of upland areas in Krishna district. Larsen & Toubro had already taken up studies on the project and it would be grounded once the project report is prepared. Saibaba made this announcement during his discourse at the Saikulwanth Hall in Prashanti Nilayam here on the occasion of Guru Pournami. He stated that the drinking water project taken up by the trust in West Godavari district had been completed and would be inaugurated by the Satya Sai Water Projects chief, K. Kondal Rao, on Friday. Another project was under implementation in East Godavari district. The drinking water projects in the two Godavari districts would benefit a population of about 10 lakhs in the upland areas. Deviating from his routine spiritual speech Satya Saibaba said water was as important as air for survival. The trust was taking up drinking water projects, as service to the poor was better than spiritual service. Music concert Exponents of music from 17 countries presented a music concert on the occasion. Students of Satya Sai schools also presented cultural programmes. The Minister for Tourism, J. Geetha Reddy, and devotees from several countries participated in the celebrations.
