leaders had in its empire the forest fringed with sandalwoods and the river

Kaviri which spreads fragrance of sandalwood to very broad vicinity through its

flowing waters.

font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">In the middle of

that forest on the banks of “Chandhira Thirththam” under the shade

of the tree Vennaval appeared Lord Shiva in the form of Shiva Lingam.

font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold"> There was a white

elephant of great austerity that used to anoint the Shivalingam with the water

it brought in its trunk and worshipped with the bunch of flowers everyday

font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">. In the same place

there was a spider worshipping the God of Gods. It used to build the web over

the Lord's place so that no dry leaf falls on the matted hair of the Supreme.

Both the elephant and the spider were so much in love with the Lord and doing

did service and worshipped the Graceful.

Lord it saw the web over the Lord. Finding it unholy it smashed the web with

its trunk and did its Puja. The

service. It again built a web in service of the Lord who is in the form of

Shiva Lingam. The following day again the elephant removed the spider web and

color:blue;font-weight:bold">spider got irked by the elephant’s attitude

which was disturbing its sincere service. It entered the trunk of the elephant

and bit. In the acute pain the elephant dashed against the ground and died.

Because of the crash the spider also died.

font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold"> With the admirable

ardent worship of both the spider and the elephant the place got the name

Thiruvanaikka

rule the land taking birth in the tradition of Chola kings.

text-align:justify">

of Thillai along with the queen Kamalavadhi.

Worried about not having an offspring the queen endlessly prayed to the

God. With the God’s grace the

the Lord became the fetus.

that if the baby was born a Nalikai (a unit of time like an hour) later it

would rule a big Empire. The noble mother (queen) ordered immediately to raise

her legs up to prevent the birth till the specified time without any fear of

her own life.

color:blue;font-weight:bold"> At the specified time the loving mother delivered

the baby and yelled with love at him Kochchenkanano !! (Oh red eyed king !!).

She died soon as she deliberately delayed the birth of the child. The King

brought up his loving son as his life and soul and gave the kingdom to him and

went to do austerities to attain liberation.

text-align:justify">

bold">The King Kochchenkatcholar reminiscing the services of his previous birth

with the grace of the Lord wanted to build many wonderful abodes to the Supreme

Lord Shiva. He went to the place of his previous service Thiruvanaikka and

constructed a mammoth temple for the Mrityujnjaya (Lord Shiva). He sent his

brave ministers in all the directions and built gigantic marvellous numerous

temples in all the states of his kingdom for the Supreme Mercyful Lord. He gave

huge donations for the maintenance of those abodes with heart full of devotion.

When he went to the Dancer in the Common place's Thillai

color:purple;font-weight:bold">to salute the Golden feet, he constructed

mansions for the disciplined priests of Thillai who spent their life in the

service of the Almighty.

bold">With the land praising his services he took shelter under the holy feet

of the Lord who is the Supreme owner of all the fame.
