Guest guest
Sai Ram Brothers & Sisters This is the continuation of the “Periyapuranam Series”………………….. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">16. KOTPULI NAYANAR text-align:justify"> bold">In the town Nattiyaththan Kudi in a traditional agricultural family Kotpuli was born. But he has such valour which made the Chola King to appoint him as the captain of his army color:blue">. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">Though he was a very strong person physically he was very weak at heart. Weak for what? He had such a soft corner for the Loving Lord Shiva and was an ardent of Him. color:blue;font-weight:bold">All the wealth he got from the King by serving him in the wars, he offered to the lotus feet of the Lord to make food in the temples and serve to all the truthful devotees of his Supreme God. color:purple;font-weight:bold">The service continued for years and years with pure love and obedience for the Lord who provides the food for all. text-align:justify"> bold">Once he was requested by the King to go on a battle. With sincere devotion he made a stockpile of rice grains for the service of the Lord that would serve till the time he comes back. Before leaving he called all his relatives and conveyed them gently that the food stock had been made for the service of the Lord and if anybody attempts to disturb it they would become the victim of his wrath. He proceeded on his duty to the battlefield. text-align:justify"> bold">While he was on the war field, a drought struck his town. Unable to get food, his relatives thought they would take the food from the stock instead of starving and could put back the grains later compensating for what they take. So they used the food from the stock meant for the service to the devotees of the Lord by the Kotpuli. When he returned back from the battlefield he heard about the deed of the relatives. He became furious as they didn’t stick to the discipline of not touching the possession of God. He wanted to punish them all for their deed. text-align:justify"> bold">He invited all his relatives for a feast at his place and announced that they would be given gifts and clothes in the feast. color:blue;font-weight:bold">When all of them assembled at his place, without any second thought he killed all of them with his weapon as he saw them only as the intruders into the God’s property and not as his relatives. color:purple;font-weight:bold">His action could be of an extreme kind but all the Love for Lord Shiva made him to such a thing. The Three eyed Lord appeared on the Holy Bull with His consort Shakthi and appreciated his neutrality and sincerity. Not only that the compassionate Lord told him that He will give refuge to all his relatives who were killed by him in His heavenly abode in Kailaya. The Supreme Lord who was taken by the love of Kotipuli took the great devotee who stood for his service with Him to His blissful abode. text-align:justify"> Sai Ram ‘ Shivathmika Attachment: (image/jpeg) image001.jpg [not stored]
