Report on the Nava Chandi Maha Yajna

Sai Ram.

By Bhagawan's Grace, Sai devotees in Malaysia created history by

having a most memorable, spiritually energising 'Yajna' called, 'SRI

MOOKAAMBIKAI MOOLA MANTHRA NAVA CHANDI MAHA YAJNA', from 16th to

18th of June 2005. This was held in a Devi Temple, at a place called

Batu Arang, about 60km from Kuala Lumpur. The temple ground was

decorated with flags, plantain trees, mango leaves and flowers. A

Yaga Sala was specially prepared with raised platform covered with

weaved coconut leaves, festoons and other decorative items.

This Yajna was organised following similar celebrations held in

Mumbai and Bangalore, from 16th to 18th May, which was meant for the

welfare of the world. Seven priests headed by a well known

Sivachariar, Muthu Kumara Gurukkal, conducted the ceremony following

all the rites and rituals as per the Sastras. He is the advisor for

many Hindu organisations including Malaysia Hindu Sangam; has

conducted more than 500 'kumbabishegams (consecration ceremony);

trained more than 450 priests and written many books on rites and

rituals.

On 16th June, after 20 minutes of bhajan, the priests started the

ceremony at 6.30am. This was conducted at a nearby Ganesha Temple

with Vigneswara Pooja, Punyaaha Vasanam, Pancha Kauya Pooja, Lakshmi

Ganapathy Homam, Navagraha Homam, Ko Pooja, Purnahuthi and Aarathi.

Distributed prasadam and served lunch for all.

At 4.30pm, after the initial prayers, the priests conducted Vishnu

Sahasranama Archana, Sudarshana Homam, Dhanvantari Homam, Sai

Gayathri, Paduka Pooja followed by setting of Kalashas (sacred

vessels) that were prepared for worship. They were taken around

ceremoniously with nadaswaram, together with Swami's Padukas and a

picture of Swami. They were placed on a dais, facing the Yaga Sala,

specially prepared for the event. The prayers ended at 10.00pm with

Arathi for Bhagawan, followed by dinner.

On 17th June, Sai youths started the day with Bhajan at 7.00am. The

priests also conducted Bhuta Sudhi, Saptha Sathi Parayanam,

Navakshari, Durga Sooktha Homam, Purnahuthi followed by Mangala

Arathi, prasadam and lunch.

In the evening, Bhajan commenced at 5.00pm for twenty minutes.

Besides regular prayers, a cow was ceremoniously brought to the Yaga

Sala and special prayers were conducted. Lakshmi Sooktha Homam,

Saptha Sathi Parayanam followed by a short talk by the chief priest

on sigificance of the Yajna. The day ended at 10.00pm with

Purnahuthi followed by Mangala Arathi and dinner.

On 18th June, about 500 devotees assembled in the morning and bhajan

started at 7.00am. Ko Pooja, Saptha Sathi Parayanam, Sarawasthi

Sooktha Homam, followed by Purnahuthi and Mangala Arathi. A cd

containing the 700 verses of Devi Mahathmyam was released for the

benefit of those who want to learn the recitation. Lunch was served.

About one thousand devotees from all over the country gathered for

the final event which commenced at 2.00pm, with bhajan that went on

for one hour. All the priests came in new clothes that were offered

to them earlier and started the Chandi Homam. Purnahuthi was offered

after each of the thirteen chapters was completed. Following the

tradition, Brahmachari, Vaduga, Kanyaa, Sumanggali and Suhaasini

Poojas were conducted. The significance was explained by the priest

that we must see Divinity in everyone, from child to elderly person.

After Maha Purnahuthi, Arathi was performed to Swami. The Kalasas

were then taken around the temple and ceremonial bathing was done to

Devi. The sacred water was sprinkled on all those present there. All

were served with a sumptuous dinner immediately after the ceremony

at 10.00pm.

Everyday the Kalasas were beautifully decorated with fresh flowers.

Two sets of mangala vathyam kept the atmosphere with divine

feelings. Sacred chants of Vedic mantras throughout the day made

this small town reverberate with spiritual vibrations. Many of the

residents from this town expressed deep gratitude to Sai Organisaion

for having this event here.

Since this temple was undergoing major renovation, a donation of

Rm2,000/ was handed over to the temple authorities by the Malaysian

Sai Council President, Bro. Billy Fong, as a gesture of goodwill for

allowing the Sai Organisation to use the premises for the Yajna.

When this event was announced to all Sai Centres, the response was

immediate with overwhelming support. All the priests and the public

were impressed with our love, sacrifice, determination, devotion and

discipline to make this event a great success. Some devotees stayed

through for the three days, observing strictly the codes of conduct

and rendering necessary services. Bhagawan's Love and Glory were

experienced by all who were there during the three days.

Loka Samastha Sukino Bhavantu.

with love,
