which was part of the Chola

Kingdom, “Pachupathiyar”

was born in the linage of people who chant the holy vedas. Due to the place of

birth, he learnt all the vedic mantras at his very early age.

hymn that takes the central stage is ”Shri Rudram”. The core of

this hymn is the most holy mantra “Namah Shivaya”, which is known

as the “Shiva Panchachaaram”.

This is one of the vedic hymn that is chanted by all the devotees who love and

worship Lord Shiva.

color:blue;font-weight:bold">Pachupathiyar was most attracted by this

hymn and his principle was to keep chanting this holy hymn till the

“Pathi” who is the Essence of all Vedic knowledge gets pleased.

routine which never skipped a day in between. He goes to the pond even before

the sun rises up.

bold">Together with the birds which start chirping and the bees tune into their

rhythm to welcome the Sun who brisk to wake up the sky and every creature, he

would stand in the pool with the water drowning up to his neck with his hands

above his head in the posture of saluting the rising God as every other

blooming lotus flower.

in a rhythm that is prescribed by the ancestors with never missing a beat with

love and devotion and surrender it to the lotus feet of the Almighty.

flow of his love incensed by the superior mantra anointed the Lord in the dawn

and the day. His austerity, love and the holiness of the hymn brought immense

blessing of the Lord who is difficult even for the celestial powers to know.

grace of the Lord and reached the abode of the Lord painlessly.

bold">As he got the coveted place by the chanting of the holy Rudram, he is

called “Uruththira Pachupathi

(Rudra Pashupati) NayanAr”.
