My humble pranams to Swami and heartfelt thanks to all of you who blessed and encouraged me in continuing this series. font-weight:bold">5. IYARPAKAI NAYANAR font-family:"Comic Sans MS"">The capital of the early Chola Kings and the city in which the river "Comic Sans MS"">Kaveri enters into the sea is famous town was called "Comic Sans MS"">Kavirippumpattinam or Pukar . had been a very big trade center. color:blue;font-weight:bold">There lived a leading businessman of that town and owner of boundless properties, but slave for the people who do true slavery to the crescent ornated God. He never says "no" to the devotees who asked for something but gives much before they ask for, called “Iyarpakaiyar”. bold">While Iyarpakaiyar was leading the married life with a clear motto of serving the Lord, God came in the form of a devotee who chants the holy vedas in order to exhibit that the dedication of his never derails. font-family:"Comic Sans MS"">As a lotus which blooms in full and beautiful by seeing the Sun, his faced too blossomed when he saw a devotee at the doorstep and gave him a warm welcome. color:purple;font-weight:bold">The disguised Lord told Iyarpakaiyar that if he is ready to give whatever he is going to ask for He will tell what He wants. bold">Immediately Iyarpakaiyar replied, "If I have anything that you ask for that is yours; No doubt in it. Please ask". font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">The Lord who had concealed Himself in the form of devotee asked for his wife. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">Without any angriness or hesitation Iyarpakaiyar font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">replied, "I am glad that I have the thing you asked for." bold">He told his wife, who was the form of chaste and innocent with an undiminishing love for her husband, that he gave her to the devotee. bold">She was petrified with shock. She was worried but consoled herself and told him, "If that be your wish I consider that as my duty" and bowed down. Iyarpakaiyar admiring her love and chaste heart bowed down in response. She excelled by her deed. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:windowtext">Iyarpakaiyar bowed to the devotee and asked what else he can do for Him. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">The loving Shankara continued His drama by askeing him to escort Him (!) so that He is not attacked by His relatives. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">The humblest Nayanar told him “I should have done it even before you told me.” font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">He took his sword and shield and went with the devotee and his wife like the royal lion that goes out for hunting. The relatives of font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:windowtext">Iyarpakaiyar and his wife were aggravated by the act of "Comic Sans MS";color:windowtext">Iyarpakaiyar and decided that bold">Iyarpakaiyar has become crazy and somebody is taking away the lady. color:blue;font-weight:bold">“We won't allow it to happen" they shouted. They all set out with their weapons and besieged them in the outskirts of the town. The Lord shivered as if He was scared, but the lady of great deed said, "Don't worry, Iyarpakaiyar will win". Iyarpakaiyar warned them to run away and get spared. But they scolded him for bringing bad name to the entire family by sending his wife with a third person. They tried to attack the God in the form of devotee. color:blue;font-weight:bold">Angered by their intention to attack the devotee Iyarpakaiyar raised his sword against his own relatives and the entire group was killed by him and he, whose head had the crown of the holy feet of Lord Shiva, went around without anybody to oppose. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">Iyarpakaiyar bold">told the devotee that there is no need to be afraid. The unblemished hearted lady and him followed the devotee as if he was leading to the holy feet of Lord Shiva. "Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">As they approached the place Chaykkadu, the devotee told Iyarpakaiyar to return home. bold">Nayanar font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold">bowed down and returned without turning back. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">The Lord pleased by his true unshakable devotion shouted loud, "Oh! Iyarpakai, who did the deed which is unimaginable! Come immediately!!". bold">Iyarpakaiyar rushed back like a lightning thinking that somebody of his relative has escaped and giving trouble to the devotee of his great God Shiva. bold">But, he couldn’t see the devotee with the lady. bold">Instead, He had the dharshan of the Supreme Lord Shiva who is beyond the limit of expression. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:purple;font-weight:bold">The Lord appeared on the Holy bull with His Shakthi Parvathi. bold">Nayanar forgot himself, prostrated in front of His loving Lord and praised with the words the competes with his love. bold">The Lord told, "Your love is faultless and so are you. You and your flawless wife will stay in our abode forever!!". bold">Devas showered a rain of flowers to bless the Nayanar and his wife while the all the Rishis and great sages praised their stanch devotion. Both Iyarpakaiyar and his wife got the boon of being with and worshipping the God of Lords eternally. Even their relatives entered the Heaven with Gods grace. font-family:"Comic Sans MS";color:blue;font-weight:bold"> bold">Let the fame of Iyarpakaiyar of giving away even the wife, who is in fact more than one's own life stay in our mind!!!!!
