Embodiments of Love,

Joy and sorrow, cold and heat, profit and loss, criticism and praise,

must all be faced with an equal mind. This equanimity of mind is one

of the most important attributes of a true devotee. There are many

other attributes of a true devotee, but these are all contained in two

principal qualities: discipline and renunciation. Discipline refers to

the three types of penance: bodily penance, mental penance and vocal

penance. Renunciation refers to understanding the defects in objects,

and living a life which does not get attached to these things; in

other words, living as a witness. If you can incorporate these two

important qualities, discipline and renunciation in your daily life,

then there will be no need for any other spiritual practice.

- Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba

My dear fellow travelers,

What is without defect? The atmosphere we live in, the people around us and the

relationships we share with them, our body, mind and thoughts - each

and everything has defects. As far as I understand, everything which

has a physical form or can be felt by mind is bound to be defective.

What is the point in cribbing about all these things? The moment we

entered the world itself, I believe, we have signed an agreement

saying "I am ready to bear all this".

We have never been forced by anyone nor will be forced to live this

life on earth and hold imperfect relations. It is purely out of our

own volition, we have been here...Yes, on account of our own Karma. We

would have been out of all this - merged in eternal bliss, if only we

had willed in our past birth and overcame our filthy desires. Forget

about past birth, the offer is open even today. But we do not want to

let loose our hold on this Maya. It is not Maya that is holding us,

but, we who are holding tight to it. When such is the case, how can we

have the least right to complain about anyone or anything in this

world, how-much-ever trouble it might give us, how-much-ever worst

situation it might throw us into?

Yet, we can enjoy this sojourn - every moment of it, the moment we

start giving love to everyone without expecting anything from anyone

in return. No one is forcing us to love. We love if we want to be ever

happy like Sai or keep cribbing and slog here forever.

Love ALL - Serve ALL
