Guest guest
Kesava, a talented thinker and an impressive analyst from India designs the first "human computer" with which (whom), humans can communicate their ideas, as easily as they do with other human beings and get their work done. Kesava wins Nobel Prize for his pioneering work in the field of HCI. All along his career, Kesava had a few close friends, who shared his ideas and aspirations and encouraged him. One of them is Pardha. Pardha has been with him from his college days. He knows each and every phase of "The Making Of Kesava". There was just one thing that Kesava did not know... Pardha somehow believed that the idea behind Kesava's invention i.e., "human computer" is not authentically Kesava's. In fact he never had any doubt about Kesava's ownership of the idea in the very beginning. But one day, he suddenly came to hear some of Kesava's students talking over this issue. He enquired them and discussed with them and found out that there is a very big probability of the "human computer" idea having been "lent" almost completely by Kesava from one of his closest students, Mike Jensen. Pardha knew Jensen very well. He knows how dear he was to Kesava and how instrumental was his help through-out Kesava's research. He has also seen Jensen sometimes correcting an erring thought of Kesava, during their discussions. Jensen's extra-ordinary way of thinking and quite promising innate talent added strength to Pardha's doubts. But Pardha cannot clarify himself anymore on his doubts since Jensen unfortunately died in an accident. Pardha carried on his investigation by meeting other close friends of Jensen and going through the dairies and other personal writings of Jensen. None of them could actually get him a "concrete" proof either to believe or disbelieve in Kesava's truthfulness in claiming himself as the source of the ground-breaking idea. And this investigation...Pardha does, without the knowledge of Kesava. He took utmost care to see that Kesava doesn't have the slightest hint of his doubting Kesava's work. Why did he do all this? Why didn't he ask Kesava directly? He did discuss with Kesava on this matter, though not directly, but Kesava never seemed to be hiding anything from him. Few days before Kesava was supposed to take the Nobel, he came to know of Pardha's doubting his authenticity, through some other friend. He remained stunned for the day. He could not just believe that the one who stood with him through thick and thin could entertain such a "big" doubt about him. While Kesava is still in the shock, the day approached when he is going to take the Nobel and Pardha has arrived at his house for (acting like?) sharing his success and happiness. What do you think Kesava would have felt when he met Pardha on that day? .... It is the first time he met a new Pardha...whom he did not know...the Pardha who never believed in Kesava...though he spent almost all his life with him... What proof can Kesava show him now to prove that the idea which created the sixth generation of computers is a result of his years of thinking and prayer? Firstly, should he prove it to him? Shouldn't one word from Kesava, saying "Yes, I did it", not be enough proof for Pardha to believe that it was his? Why could not Pardha give weight to the bond of love and trust that existed through decades between him and Kesava, and the sincerity that he saw in him all these years? Can Kesava entertain "the same closeness" and love for Pardha that he had for him before he knew Pardha never believed in him totally? My dear friends, I feel here comes the difference between man and God. We stay with Swami; we experience His Love all through our life. We get innumerable benefits from His Omniscience, Omnipresence and Omnipotence all through. But still, we doubt His "ownership" of this universe. Even the people who have been with Him and around Him for decades, those who are direct beneficiaries of His Omnipotence, and those who witnessed all His humanly impossible miracles with their own senses, still find it difficult to have "100%" faith in Him. This mind is a monkey. Not a million proofs before the senses or certifications from scientists and professors are sufficient for it to acquire faith. And Swami LOVES each one of us COMPLETELY, knowing well-nigh that we still do not believe in Him unconditionally...!!! Is there any LOVE greater than this? JAI SAIRAM Pardha PS: The above story about Kesava and Pardha was just a fictitious one I created to drive home my point.
