Guest guest
Namaste Events at Prashanthi Nilayam - Shivarathri Celebration The Sivarathri Celebrations started this year on 07/03/05 literally. Swami came in the morning at 7.15 am and after covering the ladies side, turned in front of the lobby towards the lobby and got down in front of the lobby and went and sat on the sofa. After listening to the Veda chantings, Swami got up and walked towards the interview room. When everyone thought that He will go into the room, He stopped and listened to the Veda Chanting of the primary school boys. He called one of the boys and let him chant Veda in front of Him. He materialised a golden chain for this boy and put it around his neck. He came back and sat on the sofa again and blessed two speakers; the first one was Sri Poppat from UK, his theme was "My Baba is enough for me, but am I sufficient for Baba" delivered in the typical Poppat style, which only he can do. The second to speak was Sri Goldstein from USA who spoke quite out of the heart about the devotees duties to follow Swami's commands. The speeches were over at 8.45 am and Swami left after the Aarathi was performed. In the afternoon, Swami came at 2.40 pm. He came round the entire crowd and sat on the sofa. After some time, He called Sri Sutheendran of the Central Trust Office, an ex-student of Swami to translate Purusha Sukhtam, stanza by stanza. After that Swami let a group of boys to perform a dance program. There were some group dances and individual dance performance by Sri Ganesh who incidentally has learnt classical dance. He danced very well for songs like "Bho Siva shambo" etc. In The group dance performed by the boys, the dance for the title "eka danthaya" sung by Shanker Mahadevan was noteworthy. Swami materialised a chain for Sri Ganesh after the dance and put it around his neck. Sri Ganesh was blessed with two more gifts in the recent past for his dances, one was a ring and another was a bracelet, in the recent past both being materialised by Swami out of His love for the boy and his dance performance. After the dance was over, Swami left at 4.40 pm after the Aarathi. 08 MAR 2005 Swami came in the morning at 7.15 am in the cart in which He sits in the front with Sri Satyajit sitting at the back and driving it. A group was playing Nadaswaram near the door at the Poornachandra Hall and a group of students was playing the typical 'Pancha Vadyam' as played on temple occasions in Kerala standing near the lion statues near the main gangway. Swami drove through the entire stretch, and got down near the interview room and slowly walked to the front and sat on the sofa in the lobby. After a while, He stopped the Veda chanting and blessed three speakers to speak. The first one was Prof Anil Kumar, followed by Dr Reddy from USA and Sri Raman from Chennai. After the speech, Swami got up and started His discourse at 8.25 am. Swami spoke till 9.10 am and the main theme of the speech was the significance of Sivarathri and the Chaitanya principle underlying in all such festival. Actually there is no difference between Rama, Krishna, Vishnu and Shiva and one can worship God in any form of his choice. These forms are verily the imagination of the human beings as God is all pervading and takes all the forms. The most important aspect is God is Love personified and only through love one could reach God. After the discourse, there was a musical recital by the boys, singing Lingashtakam, Bhilwashtakam etc. Sweets were meanwhile distributed and Swami left at 9.50 am after Aarathi. It was announced that the evening Sivarathri Bhajans would start at 6 pm. In the afternoon, Swami came at 3.15 pm. He again took a full round in the regular golf cart which He uses daily and got down near the interview room and walked to the lobby and sat down. After a while, He asked two persons to speak. The first one was Sri Giri, former Vice Chancellor and the second was Sri Anil Gokak, the present Vice Chancellor (son of Sri V.K.Gokak). After their speeches, Swami rose to give a Discourse. He started the Discourse at 4.30 pm and spoke till 5.10 pm. He spoke about the importance of Sathya and Dharma fort everyone. He said Sathya and Dharma are like the two eyes for the human beings. He also said everyone is immortal (Amrutha Putra) and one need not think that he is going to die and hence mortal. He concluded the Discourse with the Bhajan "Prema Mudhitha Manase Kaho" and then said that every one should sing the glory of God tonight and that he would come back at Brahma Muhurtham to see how they are doing the Bhajans. He said that he would like to see the shining faces of the singers, the shine coming from the chanting of Lord's name from the heart. The Bhajans started immediately thereafter and Swami left the hall at around 5.40 pm. The Bhajans are going on! http://www.kingdomofsai.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=330 Copyright Kingdom of Sai © 2004
