An extract from the book "Vision of Sai" by Rita Bruce

"Years ago, one day when I was struggling with my parental duty and

responsibility, Sai gave me the following thoughts:

Society says give the children what they want.

Sai-ety says teach the children not to want.

Society says wealth is material.

Sai-ety says wealth is spiritual.

Society says educate to develop our market.

Sai-ety says educate to develop our character.

Society says Take.

Sai-ety says Give.

Society acknowledges youth and forgets the aged.

Sai-ety prepares youth to honor the aged.

Society encourages overuse and misuse.

Sai-ety encourages preserve and conserve.

Society says satisfy your senses.

Sai-ety says satisfaction is from controlling your senses.

Society says don't give away your time, sell it.

Sai-ety says don't want your time, volunteer it.

Society says dress to attract and excite.

Sai-ety says clean up and cover up.

Society says mothers have the right to a career.

Sai-ety says the only right career for mothers is to be one.

Society says exalt yourself.

Sai-ety says humble yourself.

Society abuses parents.

Sai-ety respects parents.

Society says there is no physical proof of God.

Sai-ety says "IT IS THE PHYSICAL PROOF OF GOD!"

"The Peace of the World depends on peace and amity between nations;

the peace of a nation depends on the peace between the concomitant

units the families, and finally, the individuals of each family. So,

every individual has a responsibility to love others, have faith in

them, and revere them as sparks of the Divine. Every man has to

cultivate the virtues of tolerance, forbearance and brotherliness.

"If one loses wealth, he may regain it by some ruse or other. If he

loses health, some doctor might prescribe a tonic to win it back. If

one loses status and authority, he may by sheer luck gain them back.

If virtue is lost, it is lost forever, nothing can restore the

pristine purity. So one has to be ever vigilant and never slacken.

"The greatest of the virtues is love. Love is the basis of character.

You may have all other desirable things in plenty; but if you have no

character, that is to say, virtue, which is threaded on a string of

love, you can have no genuine peace. Money come and goes! But

Morality? It comes and grows! Morality has to be grown in the heart by

feeding it with love, then only can we have justice, security, law,

and order. If love declines among the people, nations will weaken and

mankind will perish."
