Since certain people have recently spread the false report that "a minister was

assassinated in Puttaparthi" the following message offers the opportunity to

clarify that this incident doesn't have relationship with Puttaparthi and still

less with Prashanti Nilayam. Telugu Desam Party (TDP) legislator Paritala Ravi

was assassinated on 24th January outside the TDP office at Anantapur town in

Andhra Pradesh. Anantapur is situated about 90 kms from Puttaparthi. In this

incident two others died and eight others were injured. Nearly 15 TDP activists

had been killed in Anantapur ever since the Congress came to power in the state.

News of the incident started violent protests and a wave of violence in several

places across the state. Mobs of Ravi’s followers damaged and burned buses,

wrecked government offices, property and even police stations. Violence has been

reported from dozen of districts. This note is for the accuracy of the news and

to point out the frequently distorted information being circulated.

At the outset forgive me for posting my reply to you in

Saibabanews and

also as this will remove

doubts/queries on the subject raised by you.

 

There were no riots going on as on today in Puttaparthy.

 

Yes there were some riots some time back as one of the

'Telugu Desam' Party leader and an MLA of Penugonda by

name 'Paritala Ravi' was killed in a shoot out on January 24, 2005.

 

Penugonda as you may be aware is adjacent to Puttaparthy and

Late Shri Paritala Ravi represented the constituency as an MLA

in the Andhra Pradesh Legislature i.e. Andhra Pradesh Assembly.

 

Factionist killings is unfortunately very common in Rayalaseema region

of Andhra Pradesh and Puttaparthi (Anantapur Dist) comes under Rayalaseema

region of Andhra Pradesh.

 

EVERYTHING IS PEACEFUL NOW IN PUTTAPARTHY AND THERE ARE

NO RIOTS. THERE MAY BE RIOTS IN PUTTAPARTHY EARLIER BUT AS

YOU KNOW NOTHING AFFECTS PRASHANTI NILAYAM TOWNSHIP.
