Swami, in his speeches, calls us as ‘Embodiments of Love”, “Embodiments of

divinity”, etc. But, Prahalada was embodiment of Faith. Let us see about him

later. Mahabali did a great yagna and he was giving out many of his wealth as

charity. Lord Vishnu came to this yagna in the form of Vamana to accept the

offerings. Lord Vishnu asked the king to give him three feet measurement of

land as offering. The king very happily accepted. Sage sukrachariar, the guru

for the Asuras (demons, Sage Brihaspathi is the guru for Devas) cautioned the

king that the person who has come in the

form of vamana is none other than Lord Vishnu and to be careful while promising anything.

King was very happy to know that Lord Vishnu himself has come to take the

offering and a slight EGO had entered into his mind. He told his Guru that

when Lord himself asks something how he could deny. And he also added that he

feels very proud that Lord has come to take offering, which means, his yagna is

a grand success. He accepted that he would be ready to provide the land

measuring three feet by Lord Vishnu would be given to Him. Immediately, Lord

Vishnu started growing his body bigger and bigger and he measured the entire

earth with one foot and the entire sky with another. Now he asked the king to

where could he keep his foot for the third

measurement of land. The king lost all his ego and pride. He fell at the feet

of Lord and accepted his mistake. He surrendered himself to the Lord and said

you can keep the third feet on my head. I offer myself to you.

When the king said that, Lord Vishnu kept his Lotus feet on the head of the king

and submerged him under the earth and made him as the king for the Patala Loga

(the world under the earth) and offered him the boon of eternity. That is

still being celebrated as Onam in the Southern State of India called Kerala.
