Swami explained to the students: "This one sound 'OM' is telling us that it

is identical with Brahman. The sound of 'OM', the Pranava represents the entire

content of the Brahman. For the creation of this entire world, the main roots

are sounds. If there is no sound, there is no world. If there is no sound,

there is no creation." (Excerpts from: The Divine Discourse Bhagawan Sathya Sai

Baba, "Purusha and Prakriti." Summer Course in Spirituality and Indian Culture,

May 1972, Brindavan).

By ancient scriptures one of the main aspect of creation is sound. The

modern consumer -world usually does not pay a significant attention to the

scriptures and continue to live in their own artificially created laws how to

get (create) more pleasure and money and riches from the Mother Earth.

On what position has the modern science concern to sound? Astronomers had

predicted by theory that the early universe rang with the sound of countless

cosmic bells, which filled the primordial darkness with ripples like the

surface of a pond pounded by stones. The wave fronts later served as spawning

grounds for galaxies.

By theory of modern science, the Universe was initially a thick, hot soup

that trapped light. About 350,000 years after the Big Bang - the theoretical

beginning of it all some 13.7 billion years ago - things cleared and an

imprint of the earlier conditions was left on the entire cosmos. Scientists

previously detected this imprint as the Cosmic Microwave Background what is

everywhere in the sky and packs important clues about the structure of the

nascent universe. In this symphony of sound waves in space may resound

unlikely. However, if you pushed on a pocket of hot gas, it would resist being

compressed and bounce back and rings like a bell," The thick hot 'soup' of

Universe would transmit sound waves in the same manner that air or water do.

When the fog cleared, the sound waves would have remained as countless ripples

of material.

By Vedas and Swami the process of creation cannot be without sound. Ancient

saints knew it thousands years ago.

"OM ithyekaaksharam Brahma", the Pranava sound OM, the one imperishable

letter, is Brahmam, the Cosmos is composed fully of the Pranava. It is also

said, "Ayam atma Brahma", "This Atma is Brahmam". Therefore, Atma, Brahma and

Pranava - all are indistinguishably the same. Brahma Vidya teaches that the

Self in each living being, the Atma, is Brahmam itself, no less.

The Sutras reveal that the outer universe (which has Brahmam as the base)

and the inner universe (the Antar-jagath) are identical and cannot be

differentiated." (Sathya Sai Baba. Sutra Vahini, Saastra Yonithwaath. Page 26).

Cosmologists have reached by theoretical accounts to the position that echo

of primordial sound ringing the cosmic bells ceaselessly.

In the early cosmos, the sound ripples would have been areas where extra

matter piled up, and more galaxies should have formed along these ripples than

elsewhere. Since all this happened, the universe has expanded about 1,000

times. However, the matrixes of all events what happened during the creation

from Big Bang remained in forms of vibrations where the tinkle of cosmic sound

were ubiquitous.sound waves are always present.

The combined discovery provides a yardstick for measuring other properties

of the cosmos. It is found by different methods that the universe is

composed of just 4 percent regular matter (the atoms that make everything from

people to clouds to stars), 25 percent dark matter (mysterious stuff that must

be there but can't be seen), and the rest dark energy, an even more mysterious

force that is driving the universe to expand at an ever-increasing pace.

"Human beings have been able to go up to a certain point, using their

intelligence... They meet a limitation and that they cannot go beyond that

point. Even today what the scientists have really learnt is a very small

fraction of what there is to learn but the pride they have accumulated after

having learnt such a small fraction is out of all proportion. The decisions

which the scientists are arriving at as a result of their work are being

altered in a short time by the scientists themselves. They are criticising and

changing the very same conclusions which they arrive at and there is no

scientist who can say that this is the final stage and there is no more to be

done. Ultimately they reach a stage where by their inner vision they are able

to say that this is the truth and signify the aspect of the Atma and realise

what ultimate truth is." (Extracts from: Sathya Sai Baba. Divine Discourses

"Brahman Denotes the Totality of Prajna in the World." Summer Showers in

Brindavan, May/June 1974).

It is meaningful to add that all science and human knowledge can deal with

4% of matter in the universe. The other 96% dark energy and dark matter as

scientists call this phenomenon is beyond of human's ability to comprehend. The

conclusion is that cosmology itself as 'landed' by the stream of dark energy on

the 'land' of dark matter.

"In the same manner, when one is anxious to destroy the darkness of

ignorance and the dirt of desire, awareness of the Atma (Atmajnana) or, in

other words, knowledge of Brahma (Brahmavidya) has to be gained. Darkness can

be ended only with the help of light. We cannot overwhelm darkness by attacking

it with more darkness. Vidya is the light that one needs to destroy the inner

darkness." (Sathya Sai Baba. Vidya Vahini, Chapter II Page 5).

For human being the spiritual awareness remains as is a single method to

understand the Universe and him/herself. Below is a tiny collection of Swami's

advises for that.

"Prakrithi or the Projection (Nature) is not born of vacuity but has always

been full and complete (Poornam). It has neither beginning nor end; it has only

gross and subtle forms.

Man, for example, is not entirely the body; he has, in the gross body, a subtle

body, the mind and another body too, more subtle than the mind, namely,

jivatma, the Individualised Atma or Self. This last has neither beginning nor

end, nor does it have any trace of death or decay. This is the truth that

Bharathiyas believe in. This faith is based on the declaration of the Vedas.

Others accept that their scriptures were written by Divinely inspired persons,

but Bharathiyas believe that the Vedas are the authentic voice of God emerging

from the hearts of sages." (Excerpts from: Sathya Sai Baba. Vidya Vahini,

Chapter XIV, Page 50).

"That which is not found at the beginning or at the end but is manifest only

in the interval, the middle period, cannot be really Real. It is mitthya, not

Sathya. The Cosmos did not exist before it emerged, nor can it exist after it

is submerged, that is to say, after Pralaya. What is evident in between can

only be apparent Truth, temporary and limited Truth. It cannot be the

unchanging Truth.

Man has to explore along these lines the value and validity of every object

in the universe. The body, for example, was not there before birth and it is

not here after death." (Excerpts from: Sathya Sai Baba. Vidya Vahini, Chapter X

Page 36).

"That is to say, the Universe is the Immanence of the Lord, His Form, His

Body. It is wrong to take the Universe and its Lord as different. It is a

delusion, a product of the imagination of man. Just as your image under the

water is not different from you, the Universe (which is His Image produced on

your Ignorance) is the same as He.

So long as man has this delusion, he cannot visualise the Reality immanent

in him; on the other hand, he will slide into wrong thoughts, words and deeds."

(Excerpts from: Sathya Sai Baba. Upanishad Vahini, II Isavasyopanishad).

It seems that modern science would revise their methods and conclusions done

by them. What is science without spiritual approaches to the events and

happenings in the area of Creation? Science itself, using the modern methods of

analyses has reached to this outlook.

Swami's explanation below is especially valuable direction foe modern scientists.

"All things seen in the Universe have the unseen as its base. All things

that move have the unmoving as its base. So, too, for every living being, why,

for the very Cosmos itself, the invisible Brahman, the Supra-Truth,

Para-Brahman is the Basis. It is this Para-Brahman, the Omni-Self, that causes

the Cosmos to shine. Jyothi is the word appropriate only for this Light and not

the limited, inferior, physical light. Jyothi has neither beginning, nor end. It

is the Param Jyothi (Supreme Light), the Adwaitha Jyothi (the Jyothi without a

second), the Akhanda Jyothi (the Eternal Light). In other words, It is the

Para-Brahman Itself, for all this is revealed only in and through It." (Sathya

Sai Baba. Sutra Vahini, Jyothischaranaabhidhaanaath. Page 46).

4% regular matter the universe is composed known to science. This tiny

amount of matter is far not quiet but a whirl of changes. The team of

researchers recently measured the largest explosion ever seen in space. It

reveals black holes more influential than expected, perhaps sometimes stifling

star formation in a galaxy while gobbling up trillions upon trillions of tons

of gas. The black hole has blown two huge bubbles into the galaxy, shoving

aside a colossal amount of gas equal to the mass of a trillion Suns, or more

than all the stars of our own Milky Way Galaxy. The creation/destruction (or

vice versa) accompanied with a shock wave something like a sonic boom surrounds

both of the bubbles.

The eruption is 2.6 billion light-years away, compared to more than 12

billion light-years for the most distant known galaxies. (A light-year -- the

distance light travels in one year). By research team the explosion is not

likely the biggest in the universe, but it is the biggest so far measured.

The eruption has been 100 millions years ago and the echo of it has measured

by NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory and the National Radio Astronomy

Observatory's Very Large Array.

Swami as answers to this latest strict scientific discovery concern to the

explosion of black holes with lyrical contemplation:

"Look at the marvelous variety in Creation. No one thing is the same as

another; no one person resembles another. On the basis of the mystery that

inheres in Creation one can easily infer the Almighty Power that has created

it. Those who are incapable of unravelling the mystery of the Created can never

unravel the nature of the Creator.

Creation or the Cosmos is the manifestation of the Will latent in Brahmam.

All this is God's sankalpa, Will or Plan. Everything is caused by the Divine

Will - this is the firm belief of theists. Each one decides this problem from

his own level of awareness; the Sutras mention these varied points of view and

consider the validity. Birds that fly reach heights proportionate to the power

with which they can use their wings. So too, these thinkers gave their

explanations on the Creation, continuance and collapse of the Cosmos on the

basis of the faith and the intelligence they had.

The genuine nature of Brahmam is Truth, the Eternal IS. It is the Universal

Consciousness, Jnanam. It is Everlasting, beyond Time and Space. And, these are

immanent in every entity, living or non-living, in the Universe." (Excerpts

from: Sathya Sai Baba. Sutra Vahini, JanmaadyasyaYathah. Page 21).

The other recent study reveals that the center of our Galaxy is loaded with

black holes.

The galactic center is dominated by one supermassive black hole. It packs a mass

equal to about 3 million Suns. A huge number of black holes and neutron stars

have gathered in the center of the galaxy. By observations many stellar black

holes are near the galactic center.

The recent findings were reported at a meeting of the American Astronomical

Society. The astronomers have witnessed amazing speeds around one black hole

and an exotic wave in space-time careening around another. The results were

presented at a meeting of the American Astronomical Society.

By the modern engineering has become possible to measure that any object

with mass warps the space and time around it, in much the same way a heavy

object deforms a stretched elastic sheet. Light passing by a very massive star

or galaxy can be noticeably bent, for example. (Einstein's work predicts

all this. But beyond Einstein, even stranger things are predicted. If an object

spins, it further distorts space-time; imagine the elastic sheet being twisted

by a heavy, spinning heavy. Other studies have found evidence for spinning

black holes and the warping of space-time around them. Even the rotation of

Earth has shown to distort nearby space-time, causing satellites to be dragged

by 2 meters every year).

What is the conclusion from these latest scientific discoveries? They

pictorially serve as evidence that the world what a human being percept is not

real. Even space and time are far not with constant qualities.

"The rare and precious teaching related to the fundamental mystery of the

Universe and the Self, known as Brahmavidya." (Sathya Sai Baba. Upanishad

Vahini Chapter VII. Prasnopanishad). Science would turn their visions towards

Brahmavidya with accepting all what has discovered through spiritual glasses of

Unity of the inner and outer Universe. Dimensions are different, but the general

principles of actions are the same.

"The theory is that all events in the Universe follow certain laws and

norms. It is not always self-evident but physics is tending to prove that it is

quite feasible. The very first Sutra indicates the Universal Supreme called

Brahmam. This second Sutra describes the same Brahmam in another form, through

another facet. The first lays down the Truth, Wisdom and Freedom (Satyam,

Jnanam and Swatantra). The second Sutra lays down the creative aspect of

Brahmam, and declares that the aspect cannot be limited to this particular

cosmos.

Each has its own Dharma or innate specialty or individuality or love

characteristics. This rule applies equally to blades of grass and the stars.

The cosmos is not one continuous flux. It is progressing persistently towards

achieving a totality in the qualities and circumstances. Man too can transform

himself through self-effort and discrimination from his present status. The

moral forces permitting the cosmos will certainly promote our achievement.

"That" from which the birth, etc, of This". THAT from which has emanated the

manifest Cosmos, with its moving and unmoving entities, "That" which prompts,

promotes and fosters their progress, "That" in which, ultimately, they merge -

know THAT as Brahmam." (Excerpts from: Sathya Sai Baba. Sutra Vahini,

Janmaadyasya Yathah. Page 19).

My favorite Swami's parable as a guideline for integration the science with

spirituality without harm any of this two aspects is:

"The expression 'God is nowhere' can remain unchanged; there is no need to

confront or contradict it. The only thing necessary is to read the 'w' in

'where' in conjunction with the previous 'no,' so that it becomes 'God is now

here!' The negative suddenly becomes positive. Similarly, by merely unifying in

one direction the multidirectional vision now directed on the universe, the

distinctions and the differences disappear and the Many becomes One." (Sathya

Sai Baba. Vidya Vahini, Chapter II Page 5).
