SIX-YEAR-OLD GIRL'S GESTURE TO TSUNAMI VICTIMS

Mysore, Jan. 7 (DN)- In one of the rarest gestures in ones memory, people are

showing a great compassion to their fellow humans, with the young and old alike

donating whatever they could to the survivors of the recent tsunami disaster

which destroyed human lives in lakhs.

As the donations poured in, some were noticed because of the large amount

mentioned but there are equal number or more, each of which, is a drop in the

ocean. But all the same, drops of water make an ocean.

S. Shweta Kamath is one such noble soul who put in her squirrel's mite for the

tsunami victims cause. She is just six-year-old and is doing her grade I in

Satya Sai School in Toronto, Canada.

On that fateful black Sunday, Shweta was in Chennai with her father Niranjan

Kamath of Mysore, who works as a Pharmacist in Toronto. Her holidays were cut

short on Dec. 26 when tsunami waves slapped the eastern coasts devouring

thousands of lives.

Shweta, traumatised by seeing the rising waters and dead bodies strewn across,

saw many more losing everything in life. Shweta's little heart instantly asked

her father whether she could help somebody with the money she had — Rs. 2.20 !

As it was too small an amount, her father suggested to Shweta that he would lend

her some money to help the victims.

Now, after visiting her grand father Sudhakar Kamath's house in Chamarajpuram in

the city, Shweta would be leaving for Colombo, Sri Lanka enroute Toronto on Jan.

9 (Sunday).

Shweta is taking along with her, 500 Nandini milk packets (ready-to-drink), to

be handed over to the tsunami relief counter at the Colombo International

Airport, which will be given to the orphaned children.

Even in the foods, prepared by the CFTRI for the tsunami victims, there is a

contribution of 50 Nandini Milk powder packets Shweta had donated.

So much compassion from a sweet little heart which beats when seeing others in

despair. May her tribe increase.
