Guest guest
Dedicate Your Life to Serve Society Look for answer for three objectives:- Where did we come from? Where are we at present? and What is the purpose of our coming here? Every envelope bear an address of "From" and "To". Without these two addresses, the envelope may find its place in the "dead letter office". In the same manner, when you are in the world now without these two addresses, you can very well imagine, to which place you will land.A small episode:- In Dubai, some people cross the creek to go from Bur Dubai to Deira by boat and boats are mainly managed by workers from Andhra Pradesh, Kerala etc. It was odd time & a Britisher was travelling alone in a boat with aboatman. The traveler asked the boatman, "Do you have a newspaper?" The boatman replied, "Sir! I don't have a newspaper as I cannot read and write. " To this, the traveler commented, "Alas! If you cannot read and write, one quarter of your life is consigned to the waters of Tsumani waters." The boatman felt sorry for his pitiable condition and kept quiet. After a few minutes, the traveler again enquired "My dear! Do you know the present prices of gold in the UAE market?" The boatman replied, "Sir! I do not know A.B.C. of gold business as I am fully engrossed in this business to make my living. Hence, I do not know the prices of gold." To this the traveler commented, "If you do not know about gold prices, half of your life is consigned to the waters of Tsumani waters. The conversation did not stop here & it continued. Observing the wrist watch worn by the boatman, the traveler again enquired, "My dear! What is the time now?" Though the poor boatman had worn a watch on his wrist, he did not know how to read as time was engraved thereon in Roman numbers. The traveler again asked, "Why then did you wear a wrist watch?" The boatman replied, "Though one does not know how to read time in a watch, it is a fashion nowadays to wear a wrist watch & carry a mobile. As I can't afford mobile, I am wearing a watch to fall in line with the present trend." Then, the traveler commented, "If you do not know even to tell the time from a wrist watch, then three-fourths of your life is consigned to the waters of the Tsumani waters." While, they were still in a boat, a gale started with great force raising high waves in the seawater. The boat was tossing up and down and became unsteady. The boatman then asked the traveler, "Sir! By the way do you know swimming?" The traveler replied, "Oh! I do not know swimming." Now it was the turn of the boatman to comment, "Then, your entire life is about to be consigned to the waters of Tsumani waters." Today, we are all in the same situation and are tossed in the sea of this world. But, unfortunately we are not making any effort to know why we are here, what have we to learn in this world, where do we have to go and by knowing how we could reach there, etc. Thus, by being ignorant of these aspects, our entire life is being consigned to the Big Ocean! Therefore, we have to first try to find out answers to the queries of: Why have we come here? What are we supposed to know? and How do we go from here? If we are not able to know the answers to at least one of these queries, our life's journey will be without a purpose. It is only when we have knowledge of "From" & "To" addresses and what is our "present resident" address; then alone our life will be meaningful and sanctified.People today are unable to realise from where they have come and where they would go. It is only after people have undergone such experiences that they realise the value and significance & strength of Faith & Perceverance. When someone questions them how they spend their time, they reply that they have not come into this world for only enjoying, eating, sleeping and making merry; but have some role to play Here, I am reminded of a center theme of the song of Bhaja Govindam & the truth thereof as explained by Adi Sankara: Bhaja Govindam, Bhaja Govindam Govindam Bhaja Moodha Mathe Samprapthe Sannihithe Kale Nahi Nahi Rakshati Dukrun Karane(Oh foolish man, chant the name of Govinda; the rules of grammar will not come to your rescue when the end approaches.)When people are questioned why the human birth was given to them, majority of them would answer that they are not aware of it, but it is for eating food, drinking, enjoying fun in sleeping and finally death. Without any purpose in life, it is useless to live. There is a specific purpose why one is born in this world and sanctify his life. Our education, our work and the money we earn, all these must be spent in a positive manner with a purpose in view. What is so great about struggling for filling one's own belly? Even cats, dogs and all animals fill up their bellies. You might have observed in the circus that even the monkeys learn several types of feats and display them to please the on lookers. You, who are born as a human should not behave like, cats, dogs or monkeys. If you behave in the same fashion then there is no difference between them and you, who has been given an Intellect to perform a better job.Of what use are those degrees, you have acquired & exult yourself in success thinking, "I have passed MBA; I have acquired several degrees." Those degrees must be put to better use. Unfortunately, today, you are indulging in futile activities to fill up your own coffers in wealth as you have no Ideal, as your mind is functioning like a mad monkey without any conscience. You must seek refuge at the lotus feet of the Baba. Unmindful of any suffering at the physical level, but utilising every small opportunity to serve the humanity, society, nation & country at large. There is no greater Sadhana than service to the fellow beings with love & affection without any consideration, thereby spreading fragrance of teaching of Sri Sai Baba to His mankind & becoming His real devotee. Life is but a learning , A pause a while & enjoy the Nature exchnage, share your experiences with all, of sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, Different paths along the way, We all are meant to learn some things, but this is not resting place... Our destination is somewhere, Far greater than we know & ever unknown. We all have to leave for that unknown destination, For some the journey's quicker, For some the journey's slow. And when the journey finally ends, Baba is waiting to accord you a great award, By merging with Him for ever & ever And find an everlasting peace, tranquility & quiescent, in escaping the possibility of Rebirth.May Baba be with you OM SAI RAM nimano fakir-Dubai-6.1.
